Fishing pressure will pick up in Feb. when the PFC stocks trout in Donegal & the other trout lakes around here.Fishing pressure has really dropped in the area, even as far back as Oct.I would say that the economy & price of gas has a lot to do with it. Also the stability or lack thereof of the ice in our area, has a lot of people worried about getting on the ice. sam

I have put in a lot of hours at Greenlick the past 15yrs & can tell you that the lake doesn't give up its fish easily. I love it because it is quiet & beautiful, but its deep clear water makes it difficult to fish for those that don't know it well enough. Thus the name (dead Sea) The abundance of small perch provides plenty of forage for the predators that is why I like to use Rapala countdowns & perch imitating soft baits on a jig most of the year. I usualy don't ice fish it because the ice is often not stable & late forming.I know some locals that claim they catch more, while using localy caught creek chubs than store bought minnows. I would suggest using perch colored jigging Rapalas tipped with minnow heads while running & gunning til you find fish. Using electronics will improve your chances greatly. Also I think that from 4pm till about 1 hr. after dark is the best time to fish there because of the water clarity. btw how thick is the ice now? sam

Sam be careful not to be too explicit on where and how to fish. I'd like to have a few fish left for C&R. Spot burning is a no-no. I made the mistake of telling two men about where and how I was catching LM bass a few years ago and they ended up raping the lake that year. They regularly fished for and kept every legal bass they caught. I approached them one day late into the fall and asked them how many bass they caught and why did they keep so many. During the converation they told me they killed over thirty legal bass, some almost 6 pounds and the reason they did because they had a license that allowed them to take them. What a stupid mentality. A lake that size has a slow recovery rate to that kind of pressure and may never fully recover.

Just my nickles worth.

Walt,I understand that there is a fine line between helping someone & cutting your own throat. This past year 2 guys came past in a boat & asked why I had just thrown back a legal eye. I replied that I would rather catch them than eat them. They just shook thier head & left. They would have been even more confused if they would have known that that was the only eye that I caught that week. lol sam

youll see where we were wet snow and slush with anywhere from 4 to 8 of ice
as for spot burning imho i can go to the same hole 7 days in a row and may catch a limit one day and nothing for the next 6

slider, was that you in the blue tent near the small parking lot near the overflow? I took a ride out yesterday just to get out of the house. Went there & to Bridgeeport. There were 3 guys there fishing with chubs, nothing there either. They said they were there a couple of days this week with no results. I talked to one guy at Greenlick as he came off of the ice,he caught a couple of small panfish & was there from morn. til 4pm when I was there . He looked like he was having a tough time dragging the sled through the slush or snow. About 5or6" of ice near the dock about 100yds out. There were a couple of tents across the ice near the far shore,That is pretty tough getting across all of that ice. I hope that they did well, because they earned it. sam

Any recent updates on this lake or if they're catching fish?  Trying to find somewhere decent to go tomorrow morning because it's probably going to be the last time I get to ice fish all season.

My friend and his dad hit greenlick today. They caught some decent sized crappie and some nice bluegills. Ice is around eight inches. Knowing them, they're probably still out there.

Looks like that would be slow walking even if you had cleats. If you fall you'll be soaked.

No work today so I thought I'd try ice fishing for myself. Hooked up with my friend, Bob, and his dad at Greenlick. Now I know why you guys like it so much. Caught crappie, gills, and shad.
