no not joking at all   one guy down by the breast in front of the parking lot in a shelter  and the other 2 were on the opposite end but it was weird they were fishing where the creek flows in. i guess it must be deep there?    but no im not joking haha , my eyes opened a little wide when i first looked out there and seen them!

The end where the creek comes in (under the road) is super shallow.  If there is water there, you may get wet up to your knees or thighs if you fell through and that's if the water came back up to normal levels.  That area was high and dry this fall.

when we had that last big rain they had the water level down. a huge chunk of sediment was washed out from where the creek flows in. in that channel i would think the water level would be 3' deeper than any surrounding area. but if you're out of the channel you're in 2" of water.

Just got back from Greenlick. I wanted to see if anyone was out. There were two guys fishing. They measured six or seven inches of ice. They hadn't caught any by the time I left.

Just got home from Donegal lake. we went from about noon until 5 and did not have one hit. no one else fishing either, it must just be dead this time of year.  i think i might try mammoth park or greenlick this week.  quick question, i have never caught anything out of greenlick other than bass what other type of fish could i catch out of that lake?

There are Northerns in there,As far as the "dead Sea" that is about the 20th lake I have heard that was called the dead sea.It is hard to fish because it is deep & clear Go to "you tube" type in "green lick" ice fishing for musky, has a nice video of a guy pulling a Muski through the ice last year. sam

i used to fish the snot out of greenlick when i lived in ruffsdale. i really only fish for cats and carp when there's no ice. the biggest cat i ever caught came from there. it seems that between the end of june to the middle of august there's VERY little from shore action. unless your after 5" perch. i do fine in cooler months though. as far as eyes go, i've only ever caught 1 and it was ruffly 12" and that's been 5 or so years ago. admittedly i'm no eye fisherman. that 1 being the only one i've ever caught or seen up close. with all the sediment getting washed out of where the creek flows in i would thing the toothy fish might cruise that area at night. the creek that feeds the lake is a half decent native trout stream. just don't get caught fishing most of it. if i were an eye or other predatory fish i might sit close to there.

thanks for the info guys. i just couldnt figure out why it was called that by many fishermen. the lake itself is really ,and as you said deep and clear. i wonder if the pfc ever considered stocking trout being its so deep? if they did it would really be a good place to fish for them

sadly yes. everyone knows ruffsdale. worst place i've ever lived. too many people around for my taste.

anyway. i hit acme first this morning. i got about a dozen gills in about an hour. probably not quite a dozen. then i hit donegal. not so much as a bump. there were a few other guys out there. they didn't get anything at all either.
once i can feel my toes again and the temp atleast hits 1 or 2 degrees i'm heading back out to acme.

i had heard that when the new bridgeport dam was constructed that alot of the fish were transported over to greenlick. i can't confirm that though. but i do know there are trout in the greenlick run which flows into the lake. who can say what all is in there. the water is so deep and there's so much underwater structure. i do know that when i asked a fish commission officer what all was in there he told me that there were NO predatory fish other than walleye in there. so not even the people who should know whats there don't have any idea. obviously they are wrong about the muskies. this was about 10 yrs ago that i asked though.

Keep doing that and next year they won't be able to do the same thing. Small lakes can't take it.

yeah it is pretty sad when the fish commission doesn't even know what's in the lake. the more species fish the better id say. they all adapt and like you said there's plenty of structure and cover for them to live in. greenlick is a pretty big lake, im not sure what it is acreage wise but it looks like it could hold a lot of fish.
