Three rods in Pa.

Folks-

It looks as though the Pa. Fish and Boat Commission has FINALLY opened up the official public comment period on the three-lines proposal.
You can download a copy of the proposal (No. 224) at http://fishandboat.com/reg398.htm
You can comment for or against it at http://www.fish.state.pa.us/promo/form/regulation_comments.htm
The public comment period is to remain open until mid-February. Let 'em know how you feel.

Sent mine in as well.  I think it would be a great opportunity.  As long as size and bag limits don't change it's not going to have an impact on the fish population as well.  The main reason I like it is when taking youngsters fishing you might not be all that interested, it presents just another opportunity to let them bring something in!

Or let the perchers catch their limit faster, head in and unload, head back out and load up again.
    The charters will love it.

on a boat fine when trolling. if they feel it takes three rods to catch their limit in less time.
on shore i'm against it. some people will put out three lines just to take up space so others can't fish the area.

There's more than enough perch in that lake to support another rod on the charter boats.  If the fish population started to suffer at all then it wouldn't be easier for the charters to catch their limit quicker because the fish simply wouldn't be there.  So as long as the boats fill up quick the population is fine and people are having more fun while doing so.  Would you say get rid of fish finders so that the fish can't be found as quickly?  I don't think you would.

Point blank people who can't handle 3 rods shouldn't use 3 rods.  Just like people that can't handle 2 rods shouldn't use 2 rods.

Even from shore 3 rods wouldn't be a problem.  How much more area could one extra bait take up?  If this fish are in one area then the 3 rods will be close together rather than spread out.  Point blank it makes the sport more enjoyable for other.  If you can't handle 3 rods or don't want to use 3 rods then don't.....but don't stop the rest of us from having fun!

point blank, they will anyhow. three rods spread out can take up quite a bit of space on a crowded trout stream. usualy these would be used in open areas along shore, thus maybe, not giving a kid a nice spot to fish...

sorry you don't have fun fishing with one rod one-on-one for fish on shore.

this topic is an opinion, i just gave mine and why. i don't controll the final ruling so please don't blaim me if the rules don't change to your liking.

I must not have enough talent...as I only fish with one rod at a time for steelhead

I can see why three rods for catfishing from the shore would be good since it's baiscally a waiting game, but when I'm shore fishing the creeks or rivers, I'm mobile so 3 rods would be a hamper.

Then you got the people who like to plop down at the shore or dock with lawn chair and use three rods...which is ok too I guess.

i fish the lower allegheny alot for walleye and sometimes catfish,  the die hard flathead fisherman already place their 2 rods 10 feet apart so if the add a third they are taking up 30 feet of shore.  in a boat it MIGHT be a good idea i would like to have a third rod while drifting jigs for eyes.

Double....I share you opinion when it comes to trout streams.  My opinion was more of a generalized one.  When it comes to trout streams and steelhead fishing I don't even use 2 rods.  Yes I do have fun fishing with 1 rod, but 3 rods would be triple the fun and who doesn't want that! haha.

And not to say that kids shouldn't go steelhead fishing but lets be honest at peak season times those tribs aren't the best place for a young child as I was referring to.  There are to many people that don't have enough respect for the sport.

And just an FYI...eyeassasin is my knucklehead cousin that I fish with on a very regular basis so he's the one that will have to deal with me and my 3 rods!!!!  Here's to you, me, and 6 rods in an ice shanty.

Which brings me to my next point.  How many of your people in here ice fish and set out multiple tip ups?  This is essentially putting out multiple lines and taking over a whole area.

i see your point cousin but when you are ice fishing you are fishing straight up and down through an 8inch hole. i can drill a hole a foot away from you tip up and fish with no problem. shore fishing you can cast in different directions to where you may cast straight out in front of you and cross my line. and yea you are right i am the knucklehead cousin  who would have to deal with your three rods.  I need to resubmit my opinion to the fish commish that might be exactly why i am against it lol
