Probably time to post this

Taken from another site, but it really spells it out nicely! I guess other sites have the same problems too! Take it for what its worth.

Read Before You Post:

I wanted to post these guidelines because here in the Forum, We all know of popular spots that become almost unfishable because of overcrowding and other problems associated with large crowds of people rushing a spot.

With out getting on a soap box you only have to look at how the access has shrunk and been greatly limited because of overcrowding and trashing of public and private property. I don't like it either, but what would you do if you were the land owner? Think before you post!

While there's nothing wrong with sharing these places with friends, posting them on a public forum which can be viewed by anyone is an invitation for crowding, littering and even poaching of our ever dwindling stocks. Since I do not know every spot name on the Coast, if you see a post that you feel is spot burning, please click the “report post” icon under the posters name, I will get an email notification and will edit the post.

Please read, or re-read, the following excerpt from the Guidelines and Help section and keep in mind how important and threatened our shore access is when you post in this forum.

Thanks,
Surf Hunter

(This from TimS in the Guidelines and Help section linked above)
We have always put more emphasis on helping people learn how to fish, not sending them to specific fishing spots. Someone that knows how to fish will be armed with the skills it takes to find and figure out an unlimited number of locations and conditions. The internet is a huge place, these forums see tens of thousands of visitors every day, we have watched places become unecessarily overcrowded through the years resulting in litter, noise, parking problems, poaching, and eventually, closure.

As such, we encourage fishing reports and discussions about general locations only. We do not allow very specific locations to be posted on these forums. Instead of posting about a specific street or town, use a more general description of the area. For example, instead of saying you caught fish at Anystreet Avenue, just say you caught them in northern Anycounty. Instead of saying Anystreet Bridge, say Anywhere River area. There's nothing good that can come from being too specific, but by being general in your discussions, you can share the important parts of your report - the tackle, lures, bait, conditions, tide, moon phase

    fishfighter and/or surf hunter?

Not sure where this came from, or how it's pertinent to FishUSA.?
I understand where you're coming from, but I can't 'enforce' a rule that doesn't exist here.

Here's the FishUSA Terms of service:

FishUSA.com Forums Acceptable Use Policies It is the policy of FishUSA.com that the discussion boards and fishing reports should be enjoyable and appropriate for all. We use the "young viewer" standard - if a post is not appropriately viewed by a younger user, then it is not appropriate here and is subject to being edited or deleted. The following are the standards by which we judge the appropriateness of posts and the rules we will apply:
    1) Disagreeing with the views of others is fine. However, name-calling and personal attacks on others is not acceptable.
    2) Use of profanity is prohibited.
    3) Advocating or encouraging illegal or unethical fishing practices is prohibited.
    4) Mentioning specific fishing locations on private property which may cause increases in angler traffic (a/k/a "spot burning") is prohibited.
    5) Posts which contain lewd or vulgar content are prohibited.
    6) Posts which are disparaging of others based on their race, gender, age, religion, national origin or physical handicap or disability are prohibited.
    7) Posts which serve no other purpose than to antagonize other users (a/k/a "trolling") or creating account(s) explicitly for the purpose of creating said posts (a/k/a "troll" account)
    8) Use of the board to advertise or promote the commercial sale of goods or services is prohibited.
    9) Use of the board to promote other commercial web sites or tackle shops, or web sites or tackle shops which compete with the FishUSA.com, FishErie.com or FishSalmonRiver.com web sites is prohibited.
If, in our sole judgment, a post violates our policies, we or one of our moderators may edit it or delete it.

We apply the same standards to reports posted on the fishing reports section of our regional sites. In addition, we may remove any post to the reports section that, in our sole opinion, is not a valid or credible fishing report.

If a user violates our policies, we may send an email warning that user that future violations will result in that user being banned from our sites, including these discussion boards. Egregious violations may result in a user being banned from our sites without prior warning. If we ban a user from our sites, that user will no longer be permitted to access or attempt to access any of our sites and any attempt to do so will be considered a trespass to our property.

Although these boards are intended for the discussion of fishing-related issues, we will permit other topics to be discussed if they are reasonable.

If you believe a post is offensive or inappropriate, please contact the moderator by email, or us by email at webmaster@fishusa.com. Please recognize that we may not be aware of an offending post if it is not brought to our attention.

This is a public site with no policy against sharing spots on public water.
While you, and many, may not agree with this, it is what it is.
Feel free to give flack for reports when you think they are too descriptive. Guys seem to have the hang of it.
As stated above disagreeing is fine, name calling is not.
And rest assured, if there's a spot burned on private water, or that you must cross private land to get to, and FishUSA's made aware of it, it will be edited ASAP.

I'm going to lock this one down now to avoid the urination contest that's sure to come.
Any questions feel free to PM.

    Thanks
    Pork
