Lake Arthur?

Visiting family in Pittsburgh this weekend and was wondering how the ice is looking on Moraine?  I don't want to bring all the ice stuff if there's no ice yet...thanks for the info....

I checked Herford manor last night and figure theres around 3.5 inches. I would assume Moraine will be safe this weekend. And am hoping it is... I don't venture too far though without a rope unless it's at least 5 inches. Love ice fishing. Hate the cracking sounds when it's making ice.

The thing that concerns me about those reports. Is that I suspect alot of those guys measure ice, the same way they measure their winkies.

It means that if you "measured" a "solid 9 inches", there probly isn't enough ice to support a well fed squirrel.

Petrulak.  I just read your post and am sorry people arent shareing.   Truth is the ice is good and many people out.  All the warm weather and rain did was melt the snow down into the ice.  I have only been on the Muddy Creek side of 528 and do not know what the ice is like on the rest of the lake, but up 3 fingers it has pleanty of ice.  And yes the fish are biting well which i am guessing why everyone stopped talking.

    petrulak,

How would the answer to this, prevent you from "wasting time"?

"has anyone been seeing any fish on the ice?"

The post above yours shows there is good ice available. So no "wasted time" going up and, finding nowhere to fish. It a lake, not a migratory stream. So you know the fish are there. Lots of fish on the ice, or no fish on the ice, tells you nothing about whether they'll be biting two days, or two hours later. Ya pays your nickle, and takes your chances. Just like the guys that went out there first.

one thing you will learn petrulak is that there are alot of ppl on this site who get excited by being ignorant. and i know what you mean about posting something and having hundreds of hits and no replys. some of us on here will share info not because that is what these forums are made for but because we are true sportsman and enjoy helping a fellow fisherman out. you will learn in time who is like this and who is not.
good luck out there and be safe

How true. I think most info is exchanged through private messaging. Maybe you be lucky and someone will pass info to you through PM. I also was wondering about ice conditions on LA as not so much the bite

Thanks for the reply.  I'm looking to try a new spot this weekend.  Have been fishing Muddy Creek Finger since first ice.  Average sized bluegills and crappies with some decent sized crappies sprinkled in.  Just looking to try a different part of the lake and thought deeper might produce better fish.  Any thoughts?
