hand auger blade life

how much life do you guys get out of your auger blades.  i take good care to keep mine clean and put wd40 on them when not in use.  seems like i always end up replacing them 3 or more times per year though.

if at first you dont succeed... blow it up.

you want organic? well then shut the &^$() up and eat a *$&#*( squirrel.

well last year when the ice got thicker i just used an axe to finish the hole which puts a lot less wear on them.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and he has to buy a rod, a reel, line, sinkers, swivels, hooks, leaders, lures, crankbaits, live bait, soft plastics and bobbers.

strike master mora 6 inch. i very rarely drill the same holes as theyre usually blown over with snow.  how do you finish off a hole with an axe in 30 inches of ice?  thats about the max i fished last year in canada lake.  had fun fishing out the window of my truck.  does anyone offer a sharpener for auger blades?  ive tried with a stone to no avail.  i made sure i only hit the one side too.

I saw those sharpeners too ... but they say there for the Lazer. If the angles are the same there should be no reason it wouldn't work, but looking at both there is a difference in the shape.

3rd. year on my lazer blades.

My 4" Mora is 3 yrs old and still on orig blades, never been sharpened either. I drill a fair number of holes when out too, i'm just a jigger     Not sure why you would be going through yours so fast, seems odd ??

Own a 8" Strikemaster Lazer.  sending into Strikmaster under their blade exchange program.  Saw another link for a sportshop in lake George which machine sharpens lazers for half the price.  This will be my second exchanged set.  No problems non Nj ice.

I bought a Mora 6" last year.  Just getting back into ice fishing.  Had one of those spoon things.  Old .   This Mora is fantastic.
I'm 65 yoa and don't have a lot of excess juice..  My grandkids even were able to punch a few holes.  Thanks for the heads up on the China-Sweden blade thing. Geo.

Got out in NJ on Friday and Saturday. 7-9 inches of ice.   Used my newly exchanged blades from Sweeden and it was like cutting  butter.  Locals on lake asked if I could assist in cutting some holes so the Club Members could renew their vows in the lake on New Years day.  It was fun to watch the polar bears.

Maybe your Blades came from a recycled Hyundai or Kia.    Throw away cars now you have throw away baldes.  I think someone one mentioned if you have problem complain to Strike Master.  They do honor their product.

jman, they are pretty good in their warranties.    I lost a blade down a hole  from not checking the screw tightness.  Called the Strikemaster consumer line, explained the situation and they did send me two new replacement blades.  No questions asked.  That is why I have used their blade exchange service twice now.  Hopefully you wont have problems.  The lesson I learned is to check your balde tightness every trip.
