seasons beginning...

well theres a foot plus on the ground and you could say that winter steelhead season is here folks. i'm heading up this weekend. the water is basically stabilized now and slowly dropping. maybe 500 or 750 plus some run off this weekend. sounds good to me. water temp 38-39... frsh fish entering daily; even better. the 10 day forecast is snow everyday. can't wait to get some solitude that is long needed. if anyone of you regs are heading up this weekend hit me up... tight lines...

All of my beaver food is pretty well secured now Lol... For the storm I need to get up anyway to plow all the driveway. Besides I am 1 of those maniacs tends to go during storms. Hopefully it's not as big as to 12 footer we got 2 years ago. Enjoy your stay with your family and hopefully you'll get some time for some steel.

One of my best winter fishing days on the SR was 3 or 4 yrs ago.

The day after Thanksgiving - fishing below the Trestle and measured 16" of new snowfall that fell in 1.5 hrs !!!

For some strange reason, whiteouts have a tendency to turn the fish on.

That was the heaviest snowfall rate I ever witnessed.

Amen. I do fish close to home when it gets above freezing. When I get cold I go home. usually after a couple hour fix.
