Driving Conditions

I was planning on driving to Elk Creek from Pittsburgh around 3:00 tomorrow morning and Accuweather has a lake effect snow advisory for Erie and Crawford Counties until 4:00 am.  Can anyone report what the road conditions are like later this evening?  I have snow tires on the car and a 4x4 Dakota but I don't want to risk any accidents.  Thanks, Steve

It all depends on those lake effect (or is affect) bands of snow. One minute smooth sailing, next minute your backed up for miles because some truck is jacked in the median.

Doesn't matter what you are driving...... There was a 24 hour
stoppage on I-90 near Buffalo, sure there were plenty of 4 wheel drive trucks stuck. If you get behind 20 16 wheelers, you aren't going anywhere. Wouldn't be surprised if some of those cars are still there. They eventually evacuated the folks stuck, leaving cars on the road.

Main roads are snow free from Meadville to Erie as of 10pm. Even so, I ran into several patches of black ice. Secondary and tertiary roads are lightly covered but are getting pretty slick. Use caution if you decide to come up.

thanks to those who posted road conditions last night.  It was a decent day on Elk - 9 landed, including one brownie, and several lost.
