What reel?

Greetings all,
Just picked up a cheapy 13' 7/8. I'm thinking about making the Danielsson 8twelve pull double duty, as a 20' Skagit or 34' scandi will interchange well between My meiz system 8 and this one. I basically got it to****around with til I can pick up another of Bob's lightsabers. Anyone care to suggest a line holder for <$150? I'm wanting to get a Hardy Marquis #3 when I get the new Meis, but don't want to put lipstick on a pig right now. Begin. -JFD

Used Lamson would be ideal, a guru or Konic. Then you could use it as a backup because they are rock solid. They have a sealed drag and are made in america. I have owned a Konic and have fished with a Guru and liked both of them. The Konic will be a little heavy but Im guessing that cheap rod is pretty heavy too.

Edit: PM sent jfd, also check out allen fly fishing and colton fly fishing.

any of the above mentioned would work great, but in reality anything would work. for instance look at cochrans post in the switch thread that he posted... 30 dollar okuma looks like it worked fine for him. remember there's more to fishing than the equipment you use. that's my honest opinion... my actual reality opinion... lamson or sci angler would probably do you just fine...do they still make a bauer large arbor??? maybe that would be suitable if they do. i remember my father getting one of them about 7 years ago; he still has it and it has held up just fine... never count out ebay either as i have scored many great deals on a few gems through ebay. trust me you should give ebay a shot... good luck

You might look at the Okuma Integrity 10/11a. At <$100 they seem to work pretty well for me. At 8.5oz(empty) the 10/11 seems to balance my son's 12'6" 6wt Decho nicely. I have a Meiser 8/10 reel(8.85oz), a reel I would highly recommend, on a Meiser 13'6" 7wt and it balances ok,but I might prefer just a little more weight. If you needed more weight to balance the rod you could add lead tape or lead core trolling line to the spool under the backing. For what it's worth, I got my Okuma reels from the Fish USA store and I can highly recommend their service.
