That is a great PA deer rifle!  My brother bought a Grice PeeWee back in the day -- it was a 600 action with an 18" heavy target barrel and a bird'seye maple stock - also in 308 -- light, accurate, short.

For tree stand hunting in nice weather (not like today0 I have a custom rifle that my wife had made for me for our 1st anniversary (17 years ago) -- Sako action, Shielen target barrel turned down to a # 3 contour, but left at 26 " long, Fagen Aristrocrat stock in AAAA Moroccain walnut in feathered ****/broken fiddle back topped with a Nikon 4-12 in .257 Weatherby Magnum.

For still hunting and bad weather (stainless and synthetic) tree stand hunting a Weatherby Ultra Lightweight in .240 Weatherby Magnum with a Nikon 4-12.

For some bean field shooting I get to do every once in a while a Remington 700 Sendero (think Marine sniper rifle) with Nikon 6.5 - 16.5 in .300 Weatherby.

Most of the time any more I use a .50 cal.

    But I also use a Savage 110 in 30.06 and a 30.30 T/C contender

Springfield/Remington Model 1903 .30/06 that I inherited from my uncle. Awkward and heavy, but some great sentimental value. Taken many groundhogs with it over the past 3 summers, but have yet to get a shot at a deer with it. He passed away before I got the history on this gun, but I'm assuming he bought it 40+ years ago and had it sporterized. Only thing I've changed is a new scope mount and scope. It's a sweet shooter.

Marlin .30/.30 lever action with open sights for when I'm the driver instead of the stander. Shot several does with this gun as a teenager, and one scrubby buck in KY about 10 years ago.

Mossberg 500 12 gauge for hunting in tight quarters. Not because I think it's a brush buster, but because it's the most devastating round I've ever shot a deer with at 50 yards and in. I've shot 2 does and a nice 8 point with this gun, and they've all dropped in their tracks. They don't even twitch after you hit 'em in the boiler maker with this gun.

Use a Winchester deluxe model 1300 pump with riffed barrel,1.5x16x32.This gun is very sweet the pump action is as smooth as they come and very accurate up to 150 yards.Winchester 30.30 with a 3x9 truglo scope. Remington 760 pump .270 with a 4x16x50 truglo scope. The scope is a bit much but you can count hair on a fly arse from a very far distance.LOL For a cheaper scope these truglo's are very bright and clear. and has stayed on bullseye on both gun for over two years now. Trust me they have gone through some rough rides in the Jeep.

If i plan to be on the ground i have to grab my
.375 Ultra mag. Rem 700 BDL, Leupold VXIII 3.5-10 scope. 270 grain bullet going 3200fps does the job.

Sitting in a stand, my 25 WSSM Browning A-Bolt, Nikon Monarch 4-16 scope is my sniper rifle.

I use a 300 savage.  It was grandfathers and getting old.  The firing pin is weak and I cracked the stock last year on a rock.  I am shooting a 50 cal deerstalker flintlock this year.   Maybe buy a new one this coming year.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.
