16 lb 2 oz

Guessing for fun! When will you be announcing the actual weight?

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

Well We HAVE A WINNER!!!!!

killdeer19 guess of 15 #'s even is the official weight measured by Poor Richards.... I did take it by walnut creek and weighed it with their digital scale and got 15.2 but no one was in there at the time, so I wld have taken either response!

Congrats Killdeer19

As a bonus, B/c I had a very productive fishing day today as well, I am going to add a 3rd secret fly :-)

wait, why did 10 other posts show after, i posted...lol... must of been a glich. 15, wow was 4 pounds off. i'd say 19 was a better guess than some of the 10-11 pound claims. bigger is always better though lol. i was trying to determine the girth and do my formula that is usually pretty right on. based on your estimated finger length i estimated a 20 inch girth. it must of been more like 16 inch girth if it it was 15 pounder. fish on...

actually, was wrong, at that weight and length the girth would be pretty close to 18.5 inches... amazing how another 2 inches of girth on a fish that length would add almost 5 lbs.

haha you guys are awesome!!!

To the guy asking about girth... we all know thats the most important part right? The official measure was 19 1/2 inches for the girth.
But ya just to reiterate the weight was guessed... 15 pounds even was the official weight.

It took me about 6 years to beat my previous record of a 13 pound 36 inch fish (was really long and skinny). It is always nice to beat a personal best.

One of your measurements has to be off. My calculator says 17.7#
for that length and girth. That's why my guess was 14.6. I estimated the girth at 18.

Anyway, still a very nice fish. I'm still looking to get one over
12. I may have had one last year, but didn't measure or weigh it because I released it too quick.

yuppers, right on with that girth and length to be 17 and change. hey paul, although its early for this, did that fish drop her eggs leading to her belly to sag down and maybe appear larger than it looks? because my steel calc is usually pretty right on...

good point there... i was instantly drawn to that belly sag in the original thread post. looking back yes it is a male. that is quite some girth for a male usually in my experience the bigger males have broad shoulders... last year pulled one out of oswego had to have been between 15 and 18... similar fish with huge bulging belly. no spawn features yet and it had a small head just like this one. was shocked to not find eggs inside when slit open, instead a belly that was stuffed with around 20 undigested bait fish still silver skinned that ranged from 1.5-3.5 inches each...
