New to me

Today was a bitter sweet kind of day for me. My grandmother has been living with my mom for just over 2 months due to her R.A. getting worse and her living alone is no longer an option. While I was over helping my mom clean my grandma "bubba" house today. I was told that bubba wanted me to have her old roll top desk. I am so proud that it will be in my house now. My grandma loves to see the flies that I tie and loves to brag about them. I'm not even close to some of the guys on this board. But enough blabbering from me so here is the new to me desk that I filled with all my gear to tie.

    That's really awesome, steelhound!

I have some family history at my tying station as well. I use an antique vanity stand that used to be my great-grandmother's, that she'd use to put on her makeup & jewelry. I got a hold of a piece of composite tabletop to place over the gap in the middle & so I wouldn't have to tie or clamp on the antique surface.

I only met her when I was very young, but tying at that bench connects me with her, just as you'll think of your grandmother every time you tie a fly.
