Salmon River, Pulaski, NY - Steelhead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

Yup, sounds like a broken record.
BUT, we have and will continue to hit fish top to bootom of river for many weeks com'n.
(100% in ALL spots :)
20% old Salmon presently but mostly 80% fresh, hard fighting, high fly'n, tail walk'n, speeding bullet runs from those many crazy freshies. (Metal heads - Steelhead - Chromers :)
that are presently top to bootom of river.
Great time to wet a line on the Salmon River, Pulaski, NY.
Easy 1'2 hour drive North of Syracuse.
Hope you ALL get a chance to experince this incredible world class fishery!
Few anglers around, (especially mid-week) compared to a few weeks ago :)
Fish abound for the angler that understands:
1. Habitat
2. Rigging
3. (Most importantly) Presentation
You could be off by a lil on any of the above and only hope to get lucky :)
Put all 3 together continously and you'll hit'm BUT good!
Care to learn?
Best of luck!
Best Fish's,
Randy

    HI Cahr, (excuse me, Char)
    Your correct.
Who would want to hook 10-20, 2-6 pound Steelhead when you could easily hook some 8 - 12 pound (and bigger) here on the Salmon River, Pulaski, NY.
Some days I wish I was on your streams, BUT, rarely, when we have such a world class fishery here :)
Maybe you should try something a lil more challenging and rewarding?
    Just kidding ! :)

Truff. The SR is more harder, but the fishes are bigger & more work. Some don't want that. Good.

    jonny,

It'll be good then. Defintely bring the fly rod, with the great water levels, (800-1200), the fish have been real aggressive to colors and big fly's this year.

I sorta alluded to it in an off hand manner earlier.

Bunch of weenies over on that site.
Full of C&R fanatics who have nothing better to do.

Sort of funny situation - that Lil is a techo-geek and has all sorts of "high tech cr@p" like SCTV set up - but no-one will even post a report cause they may be found guilty of keeping a fish, or god's sake touching its gill plate.

    Can I say homo?
If so, they yes, that's what they are. A bunch of homos.

Erie is too crowded, packed with the same ole look alike steelhead cookie cutters, and too far of a drive.

Besides, it can't compare to the scenery of the Salmon River - especially mid river parts.

No doubt salt, I have been using my pin mainly but I anticipate a larger crowd. I tend to be a cold weather guy. The colder it is the less people to deal with=longer drifts. I made this trip last year the same weekend and it was great. The fish were so strong compaired to 34degree water temps Im used to fishing. A little crowded but met some cool people and a few leftover salmon snaggers/wannabe steelhead snaggers. I was able to help out the crossovers They did not catch a thing and we were cleaning up in the same spots they have been fishing all day. Turns out some people need someone to teach them to be a sportsmen. They loved fishing but did not know any better. Then there are the guys that just plain suck, what can ya do. Your dead on about bright colors. Pink worm outfished my pals eggsacks 2 to 1. Fishon

Right on drake. Even upper river(black hole, staircase, longbridge ect)although I wish they could have put the sewage plant in dougleson, Black hole is a site to see. The rock cliffs with water/ice running down is awsome. Last year I hiked a few miles down river starting at the fly zone hitting all the spots. I love sitting back with a cup of joe and a smoke and taking it all in.Stunning views and breathtaking trout, what a beautiful f-ing place.
