Yup, my buddy called me tonight and told me about it. He was talking to the guy today. I know where he shot it at too!! It's a great buck. I might have to hunt around that spot next year.    Timmy

that's a really pretty buck. If I were lucky enough to shoot a 180+ class deer, that's the style I'd want.

    Thanks

The Elk County buck is a totally different buck than the one pictured in this post. The Elk County buck was killed on the game lands this Tuesday. He supposedly green scores over 205 inches. I have seen pictures but haven’t seen the rack yet. It is a darn good buck though.

    chicken,
Please, lets not start this.  Go to HPA and read about it there.  I think that rumor has been dubunked now.
Congrats to the archers on the Greene Co. and Elk Co. bucks.  Both are deer to be extremely proud of.  One of these days....one of these days....maybe I'll get my chance...

both amazing bucks!  I just can't help but wonder how much difference there is between this year and years past now that turkey hunters are being kept out of the woods during the peak of the rut; which in my opinion was the intent of the PGC the entire time.  Now they can hold these trophies up as examples of how well the AR program is working.  Kinda seems like stacking the deck to get there.  I'm sure many of you will disagree, but given the way the PGC has been changing regulations more often that I change my socks; all of which are meant to result in the harvest or more and bigger deer; I don't put anything past that organization anymore.  How do the rest of you fall turkey hunters feel about having ONE Saturday to hunt birds in most management units this fall if you cannot hunt over Thanksgiving?  btw, I do hunt in Elk County out of our camp in the Mo State Forest.  There have always been huge bucks there; it's just that that area is so vast and thick that many of the deer that live deep in will never see a human being; or you will never see them.  Your ONLY chance at a buck like this IS during the rut when they are acting stupid.  Gotta be somewhat easier now without turkey hunters traipsing through the woods.  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it......

The Elk County buck is not and has not been under investigation of having been a penned deer. It was well know that the buck was out there. Many of the local people have seen it throughout the summer and fall.

Buddy of mine shot a buck this past week that green scored at 172, it's also a monster. There's a pic of it over on Grizzly Gary's forum...

There's a also a pic of the monster that RSB posted pics of here.
