Kitchen window buck while making coffee. Updated.

It was nice to be greeted this morning while making the coffee. He was leaving his scent on the old apple tree just outside the back yard.

This is the fourth buck in the yard in the last two days. The other three were trailing an old doe and twin fawns.

Is this a 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 year old? My guess because of body development is the latter.

Beautiful sight to wake up to! City slickers can have their coffee shops if making your own coffee means being able to see that in the morning! Thanks for the great pics

I would guess that buck to be 1 1/2, probably his first real rack..
No sag to his back and no grey hair.....

I agree with Bings, did I really just say that

Rack does not have much mass, antlers are on the thin side and not much in the way of brow tines, I agree 2.5 year old... also in the side views he looks to have a young body style..

in this area he would be a shooter though...

2 1/2 max my guess. Short head, no sagging, not much mass. Relax, you will know when you see a 3 1/2, 4 1/2, 5 1/2 year old buck. Although you probably wont be able to relax when that happens! They are out there just a little smarter.

Thank you for all of the replies.

I live in Chautauqua County, NY and our deer, for the most part, do not develop heavy, long-tined headgear.

The first three pictures are of our typical 1 1/2 year-old bucks. The last picture is of one I killed in 1994 and I have not taken a buck since, and will not, unless it has a larger rack than this one.

*If you did not know........Spraying around the eyes and covering the nose/nostrils with WD40 once a year will preserve them indefinitely.

You have deer in that area similar to our deer in McKean County......Might be 2.5 considering that fact. Def not 3.5
