For those who voted yes, to sunday hunting
Would you still vote yes to support sunday hunting if it meant that rifle season opened on the saturday after thanksgiving and ran as follows. Sat Sun Mon Tue Wed Thurs Fri?
Better too far back, than too far forward.

. Why wait till the Sat after thanksgiving?..Just start rifle seaon tomorrow, include sundays full automatics and run it through all the way till next august. Why play around with the herd decimation. Lets just do it right and be done with it. "I have a feeling we can only dream about this though." Mercifully, i believe youre right. While it might be nice to start with, I dont think the results obtained from would be your "dream". Though Im sure the results would be an pgc/environmentalists dream, such as those who want more trillium & very few deer.... It would end up being a hunters nightmare.

Are you suggesting a 7 day rifle season, starting the saturday after thanksgiving?

Yes Personally, deer season doesn't even enter my thoughts when considering sunday hunting. Currently, I take Monday off & get the 2 saturdays making 3 days to hunt. The proposed season above would still give the average workingman hunter 3 days for *rifle deer season. (if Monday was taken as vacation, or unpaid holiday) Fine by me. Sure would like some extra days for small game though.

I also was not even considering deer with regard to Sunday hunting, just small game. Currently, I belong to a pheasant preserve as a club member and can hunt there on Sundays. It is nice to put in half a day on Saturday and half a day on Sunday. It keeps the dogs, and me, fresher than a full day's hunt; permits two days to hunt on a weekend if we limit quickly on a day; and also allows time to watch football on the other half of the day.

"canned hunts" have nothing to do with Sunday hunting... if you want you can shoot deer on sunday now on a "preserve hunt"...

Starting on the Saturday after Thanksgiving would mean there would be no reason for kids to get out of school on the first day, the kids would LOVE that I'm sure... My vote is no on starting the deer season on that Saturday.

ORIGINAL: Dr. Trout "canned hunts" have nothing to do with Sunday hunting... if you want you can shoot deer on sunday now on a "preserve hunt"... Doc, no need to get nasty. Did you ever hunt birds at some of the clubs I hunt? Bet you can't kill one. They make the PGC birds seem tame by comparison. Also, did you know that 99% of the "wild" pheasants in SD are stocked? They are no different that the stocked trout you fish for or the tame deer you feed, then hunt. My point was, I have the opportunity to hunt on Sundays, which most don't, and I was sharing my opinion on how nice it was to be able to do so. Now, go feed your deer.

Heck yes. I have recently thought that starting the regular firearms season on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and allowing Sunday hunting would give people more days in the woods with having to take less time off work. Could always end the season on the second Friday to limit it to only 2 weekends. Sorry, I didn't read all the rules. I'm not down with ending the season on the first Friday. But still vote yes anyway, just b/c I feel so strongly about starting the season on a Saturday...like most sane states.

yes but where are you coming up with these rules? will you provide any justification or reasoning for the seasons?

No if I read it right and it ends on Friday. Yes if it ends on a Saturday. Yes on Sunday hunting if it is open to all seasons except firearms deer season.
