I gotta admit I have only caught about 1/2 dozen, but haven't done it extensively. The pic I posted is the biggest.
Every fish has a story. Here's that girl's...
Gottom had showed me a great place the day before & we had a blast jumping & catching Steel with another dude.
Gottom got his first Coho on a pin that day. Flyfishing was king as far as #'s for once though.
As perfect as an October day as anyone can hope for- friends, good fishing & everyone getting action.
The next day I had to head for home 10 am- plenty of time to fish.
So I get to the parking spot before daybreak & it's raining hard. Already geared up I thought I'd feel my way through the 1/2 mile trails as to get to fishing at legal time. Well- I got way lost in the woods & it was way after daybreak until I found the place. There was a guide & angler in the spot.
I headed to a tailout a couple hundred yards upstream & the fish were there. I was basically just doing simple nymphing. Drift the fly by her over & over waiting for the white outline of the mouth to move. I landed the fish- not huge- about 30", took a couple pics & headed toward home.
Stopped for a nap at a rest stop. Woke up to pee & locked my keys in the car. Still pouring. After about an hour I talked to a roll back driver who popped it for me & wouldn't take a dime for his troubles.
I Love the rain, catching fish & witnessing acts of kindness is very cool. Got to come home & tell my family about the Big Silver Beauties.
So yeah, it was a great day.
PS- I caught Erie fish too, but I prefer the SR. I like the tackle shops too.
