Wade in 3500 you'll die & they will never find your body. That should be enough info for anyone.

Safe to say DSR will be closed for a while & some Salmons will make it to the hatchery unmolested. I feel bad for peoples who are up there wanting to fish. We dream for a year, taking valuable time off work, away from home, you get there & so is the water. All 8000 CFS, plus runoff.

The highest I can remember was 12000 about 10 or so years ago, it wasnt salmon season it was more in the summer. A guy I work with and I took a ride up after work and went to the ballpark to check it out. Mother nature can really impress when she wants to.

Hard to imagine more water in the Salmon River than in a very large river like Oswego.  Maybe it just comes up and down faster, but that is just incredible!

Go to Salmoncrazy and look at river reports, there are current pictures on there that are crazy.
I'm scheduled to go Sunday, don't know if I will now.I'll wait to see if they can drop the water but from what I read it was out of their control for awhile.

I just emailed Dawn to see if she could take some pics.. If she emails me the bridge is gone with a pic I'll post it after work- midnight.
Lets hope not much damage to the people up there. I hope for more pics. & vid. to surface.
Let's pray the people are smart enough to stay back. There is no hope for many people or beasts in that flow.

The water must be chunky chocolate milk, too. that could really take a while to clear. We're coming up on the 9th for 4 days. Waiting all year. This really sucks, but all we'll lose is some good fishing.
Real tough on some Pulsaki-ans (?), for sure.
Sorry- that wasnt a dig- I just cant spell. Pulaski-ans, I meant. Fat Fingers.

If I knew how to put a link on this thing I would, but go to wsyr and check it out. Seems the wall in town falling in may effect the sewage for 90% of the village and could end up in the river. The mayor has declared a state of emergency.

i have turned many salmon or steel in 3000 plus, but i don't recomend it... gotta know where and when to fish and it is very dangerous... one good piece of advice is to never go by what the waterline posts. go by actual flows from pineville link. this past summer there was a day where they only ran 1800 or so, but with run off and spill over it was over 5000... for san juan worms, it's very easy to wrap a thread around a hook and a piece of stiff micro chenille. you almost don't need a vice. otherwise, most sport shops would have them good luck...

sounds like it would be fishable for a guy like you or me 3fan, but most should wait. especially since most spots have probably changed. there is going to be a learning curve for all anglers since this flood occured. for safety reasons, most anglers who only fish the river once or twice a year and aren't familiar with high water should either wait or use extreme caution. i wonder if this flood messed up the construction going forward on the new pineville bridge?
