If I get the chance at a doe, I'll shoot one. I'm kind of pragmatic about that because I never seem to have enough time to spend hunting.

We shall see how itchy my finger gets. I got two tags and I plan to fill both at some point and time. Like DD, my time is also limited and my freezer is empty. If I do shoot one in archery, it will be within the first 2 weeks of the season.

I never shoot a doe until I am done buck hunting. The doe you don't shoot under your stand today may be the one that comes in with a buck in tow in a few weeks. I know for a fact it was for me on at least two occasions.

I shot quiet a few doe with my bow and crossbow in Pa. and Ohio through the years, and they where all fun and gave me the conedence to" KNOW" I could kill a deer with a bow,and take the edge off when Mr buck get's in range. With the long seasons I shoot my doe's in rifle or Flint season, because it's usually cold and I can have more time to butcher my own deer.I have no problem with bow hunters taking a doe,for we are hunters.I like as many ladies around for the two weeks of the rut in November. That big mature doe may bring you a nice buck when they start chasing. To me there are two great chances to kill a buck, the very early season(batchler groups]or last week of Oct till it goes out in mid Nov. I've never had much buck luck at other times.

I,m with you tuna. I wait till late season then have fun tracking in snow.
They have a great chance of excaping , especially when the flint won,t spark.lol
There are 2 family,s ,2adult and 4 with spots yet, behind the house. My neighbers
hit them hard so I hope their still around.
I may go to my buddies place. The first day last year I had 9 doe at one time under my stand, during rifle.

i don't think i'll be shooting a doe in pa with a bow...now that i got a buck in ohio i really have that edge off but in years past, i wanna say 4 years? i have not taken a doe with a bow, i always seem to wait til gun season. NOW say ten years ago i would be wanting to shoot a doe right off the bat..but i will also say i have alot more time then most to put in the woods, im sure if i had weekends only to hunt or something like that i'd be more opt to harvest a doe..

No doe in the morning for me. But will be farm hunting in the afternoon/evening hunt so maybe if a nice doe walks early enough I'll take her.The guy who ownes the farm said he has never seen so many does in quite a few years. And that there has also been a good amount of shooter bucks. GOOD LUCK AND BE SAFE Dave

Oh yeah it's on.  Will take a good sized doe if the opportunity is presented.  I like to get my doe as early in the year as possible.  I have 4 days tapped for doe harvesting before the seriousness of the rut takes over.  Hopefully I can get it done.  There has been an old beotch hanging around the last couple years w/o any fawns.  She has a big target on her side.  Prolly tough as nails though.  No problem, besides the loins I get mostly grind anyway.

Re-read it.  I said besides the loins...

Over the years I have found it enjoy venison a lot better ground.  So after I cut the loin and backstraps, most of the rest gets ground along with a little fat.  We use it as a substitute for ground beef until it's gone, which doesn't take very long.  My girlfriend does most of the cooking, except for on grill.  She's not very good at it so ground meat works well with her skill level.

I do the same thing with mine. It gets to the point where you prefer the ground deer, and ground beef tastes and smells funny after eating ground venison most of the year.

Only place I'm willing to shoot a doe takes a east/southeast wind. Tomorrow a.m. says NW shifting NE in late afternoon. So no doe for me tomorrow. Course, the weatherman is the only one that can be wrong 70% of the time and still have a job.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.
