my quest

Hello everyone and let me begin by saying this board rocks when it comes to fishing. Anyways, I just moved to waterford these past summer and been reading about steelhead fishing in the streams. I was looking too try it out later this season. (When we get more rain) I have a decent reel, I beleive, but wanted to upgrade my rod since it is only a 5 footer. I been looking at the following brands...

Pinnacle Vertex Noodle
JBI Black Diamond Series
Shakespeare Salmon/Steelhead noodle

They all are around the same price. Give or take $15. I really do not want to spend over $50 given this will be my first experience with the chromers. Any suggestions? Should I be looking at a different brand? Also, the warranty caught my eye with the JBI rod because it has a 3 year warranty. The other two only had a year warranty. BUT the JBI is also a IM6 make while the other two are IM7. Any suggestions will greatly be appreciated. God Bless.

I'm not familiar at all with the JBI.  I do have an IM7 Shakespeare that might be 15 years old (I got it used) and I love it.  It is a 10'6" light action.  The only problem:  small guides that freeze shut quickly.

I just bought a JBI Saturday at Poor Richard's. Landed 2 and lost 8. The rod worked great. It absorbed a lot of energy. Its me who cant keep them on.......
    40 bucks.

Shakespeare - get it at Fishusa.

IMO if you look at them all closely, the Shakespeare has better
components. Go ask the Fishusa folks on 12th st.

Thank all for your replies. I ended up going with a 10' JBI Black Diamond Series. It is a great rod. I hooked up with one last night which took about half my line out into the lake then came off. Five-ten minutes later landed a nice size 9-10lber. Was pretty excited since this was my first landed fish this year.

The JBI rod definitely handled the fish well with no problem. The only problem I seem to have is casting lures out as far as I see others doing. For casting lures, is it best to have more of a "flimsy" rod or should I stay with a more sturdier rod? Thanks again everyone. Great board filled with a lot of info.
