New products

Stopped by a local fly shop. Saw two interesting products I bought.

1) fish skull. It is a weighted head for streamer flies that is more streamlined like a real baitfish head and gill plate. Blue baitfish color looked good. Small size is good #4 to #10 hooks

2) RealFlyColor beads. Like the color of these beads especially the shrimp pink and caddis green.

Always like to experiment with some different material and ties for the new year.

fish skull can be seen on page 2 of steelhead flies 10'

The moment of truth. Where all other things unconsciously melt away from our minds the instant a fish takes our fly. We stand there on the water with wide eyes, caught in a battle stance with an idea of confidence and hope

Yes, that is a good close up picture of the blue for those that are interested.

The fish skulls look neat, but is there any advantage to using them over a cone?

The fishskulls are designed with a built in keel unlike the cones. Very easy to tie up an inverted pattern so the hook point rides up. Here is a pattern to where the hook point will ride up.

And here is one that will ride straight.

If you noticed the fishskull is not perfectly round. One side is larger than the other. Depending on which side of the hook shank this larger side is fixed as(either top or bottom) will determine the flys ride in the water.

Ah, very cool! The advantages of a cone head and dumbell eyes in one. Nice!

Very nice norm! These skulls seem to have a potential of many uses! Great product IMO!
