SPOT BURNING...

its F-ing stupid that everytime someone doesn't get GPS #s and a detailed map... they complain that everyone is too worried about spot burning

did it ever occur that no-one wants to help you?
or that someone may just PM you the info?

it is just as bad when people type "don't spot burn" when they have no clue what it means, rather its just a buzzword

like a guy who asks about 2 towns on a river... towns... not parking areas, not pools, but public towns
and then a cluessless memeber accuses them on "spot burning"

Get a grip

i was part of the group that pushed for this site adopting and "anti-spot burnning" policy
a policy to prevent the PUBLIC posting of locations on private property... places, that if mentioned on this heavily trafficked PUBLIC site, could lead to a wave of anglers flooding an area that is not able to hold more than a few anglers.... (ie in someone's backyard, a location with little parking, places where the posts on this site could cause access to be closed)

rant over...

    Good post, man.

There's definitely a difference between "start fishing around the interstate and work your way up from there" and "park in that vacant lot by the barn (not sure who owns it but they've never complained), walk across the yard and down the path to the stream. On your right there's three big rocks in a line out to the middle of the creek. Stand on the third rock and you will hammer them. Take loads of pics!"

Does that also mean that there are certain spots that would/should be included under an exemption clause? I've always thought it very odd that someone could possibly accuse another poster of "spot burning" the wall, the stop sign hole, trout run beach or anywhere north of Rt5 on Elk. Yet it happens every year with regularity. For real?

...and perhaps for you- reading comprehension. Obviously (to most), I was addressing the constant accusations each year involving open PFBC waters. i.e.,  "What nerve! That guy actually posted a detailed photo and description of the stop sign hole. Spot burner!"

all of the dnrc sites have detailed maps on where to fish, even this one,"angler maps".Everything anyone needs to know can be found with a little research, parking, access spots, tackle, food, places to stay.for those looking for info.,Instead of asking 'where can i fish", if you can find this site, look a little more, the answers are there.Google Earth and a GPS,no fish is safe.If you feel the need to give someone specific's,PM them, and then they can tell somebody and then they can and so on,then it will look like all the other"secret spots."Do like some of the other forums do,post the name of a creek, and you are gone, reports read "east side"' west side" stream..Pic's of the surroundings are also frowned on.Have got a wealth of info about first time trips from people on this site and others,by PM!!!!!!!!

If you only want to put "a tributary" for where you fished, or "east side" thats fine, but don't act like its a fishing report. If you don't want to give anything more than "fished a great lakes tribuatry. Used multiple techniques and caught fish" then don't bother to post. Seems like most reports are just a way for people to brag about how many fish they've caught without giving any good info. I give a stream name, upper or lower, and if a certain type of fly works well I'll say so. Now, I have my own non-steelhead spots that aren't secret, but are not widely known. Instead of posting reports about them that read "Fished some water East of the Mississippi. Used flies and caught lots of fish." I just let it go.

There are NO secret spots! Anyone who doesn't know all of the "spot's" after a couple of years of fish'n, isn't going to leave Lower Walnut and Elk Creek access to fish your "secret spot" anyhow! (And if it is posted property you would have to get permission, no matter if you heard it on here or found it yourself.)
