what rod

what action and power would be good for casting wieghtless worms a decent distance but strong enough to land a 4 to 5 pound bass? i normally use a 6' 6" medium action rod but it doesn't seem to get any distance on the cast. any info would be nice

Sorry it took me this long to reply,6'6" medium/heavy power fast action would be my suggestion.I can whip weightless 6" senkos a mile. What I have right now is a St. Croix Premier rigged with a Shimano Symetre. It has pulled in many 2-4 lb smallies, and 1 8lb large mouth.
Alot will depend on what size/type line you are using also.
    Hope this helps,

a longer rod will add a little more distance to your cast, if your line isint real heavy. alot depends on the cover/structure your fishing it would really stink to lower your # test and lose a monster in the weeds, like akitadog said a 7' rod with 8# should do the trick and should be plenty for casting worms a distance
