Tailwaters canoers

Had a couple hours to hit up the kinzua tailwaters today..
Bunch of small bows, missed one dandy Rainbow.
Those littles ones make you complacent on your hooksets..
Had him on for about 3 good flops on top and then gone...

Ran into one of those "Trout Bums" you know those guys that fish all the time and are quite artful with a Flyrod....Nice talking to you Dano....

I would also like to thank the SOB of a canoe dude that buried this #2 green Octopus hook in my pant leg....

Was looking down and messing with my fly when this canoe almost hits me, missed me by 6 feet..
I look up and watch the guy drifting away and notice he has a rod hanging out the back of the canoe..
Line dragging in the water and I feel a tug on my right leg.
I look down and see a nightcrawler pinned to my pants with this hook.
It started to pull hard on my leg before I could the clippers on the line...
Almost tipped me over....
Guy never even turned around and apologized...
Lucky for him he got no skin...Would have been ****ed to have him run that through an expensive pair of waders....

yeah bing,  you know I've met some real  holes up at the tailwaters.  do jerks have no fear of strangers? we are armed with knives and hooks you know.

The word is that the bite is slow with the cool weather.  I think we need rain. rain to push the fingerlings downstream (thining them) a little and rain to start moving fish out of certain spots of the river.

perhaps even rain to cool down the water.  I was shocked last night how warm the water felt.

Bings....take spoons next time. It's amazing how fast duuds will back up when they get slapped with a cleo.

I don't always snag fish, but when I do...

Something I have to pay more attention to..
Not used to having people sneak up behind me when I'm casting the Flyrod..
You would think the wild flailing with the arms and stick would scare them to the other side of the river..

I could have just as easily pierced their nose with a #10 Elk hair with my backcast...

Accidents happen but the dude could of at least said "Sorry for buryin a 2/0 Octopus in your pant leg..

Better show yesterday, watched two drunks (noon) roll their canoe about 200 yards from the launch...
The three guys on shore laughing at them was almost as funny...I did have to rescue a floating hat and watched a couple packs of smokes hit the current..
When I gave them back their hat I said, "You could have saved your money on the canoe rental if you just wanted to go swimming."
Hope they finished the trip OK the were polluted...

Now that's a story! We witnessed some similar "drunks fall in the water" stuff just downstream a few weeks back...good stuff.

I know what ya mean about not watching behind ya, I stuck Beerman at OC....praise the Lord he's a nice man.

Was back again yesterday afternoon for another try..
Got rained on pretty good, had the whole stretch to myself except for this Trout Bum that hangs out there..
The little bows liked the bunny leeches, but no big Browns yet...
Someday it will happen, better than watching the tube.......

Best luck for a brown right now is at night. They are in the deep holes and are primarily feeding at night.

    Hey Bing,
You could of set a new fashion trend with that Elk hair caddis in the nose with some of these freak shows and their piercings. I'd tie up a few & head to the closest tatto & piercing studio...you might be ahead of the curve with something.
