A tutorial on Weaving Nymph Bodies

I started weaving with the granny weave. Ill be the first to tell you that not only does it suck but your flies look like big bulky out of proportion pieces of crap when you finish and you ask yourself "Why did I waste 10 minutes tying that". Well, Ive found a better way, via a tutorial, and someone asked for lots of tutorials so heres another.

Enjoy

You should tie me some of them J.    I suck at nymphs.  I need to get better.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

That's how I do it too.  Embroidery floss.  seperate it into single strands, 2 strands each color for a #8 caddis hook.  One for anyting smaller.  The steelhead pounded an olive and cream woven caddis a couple weeks ago, #8.  It's pretty quick once you get the hang of it.

Jeremy I have an Idea what you can do with the flies that don't meet your standards.........

No don't send them to me I have enough that don't meet my standards already  LOL

When you are out on the stream and you see a kid struggling with catching  GIVE THEM TO HIM OR HER

The look on that kids face will tell you one thing  They do meet someones Standards

And the feeling you will get will meet your Standards  I hope

There is an article in american angler april issue the shows using boot laces for woven bodies. You remove the core and slide the lace over the hook and tie in. Article is on pg 46 called "give em the boot"

That sounds pretty slick but i think your colors would be really limited. Dark Brown/Light Brown?

thanks, this stuff interests me when im bored. But for example, i have a four day weekend this weekend, with me and my fiance both fly fishing thats a lot of flies.

You can accomplish this look other ways faster.

Tie in your tail, then tie in a strip of color(swiss straw, ect..), tie in clear vrib. Dub a light color, pull the dark color over the top then wrap the entire thing in the clear vrib.
