Power Belt Bullets

Does anybody have any problems with these? It seems like they just pass through and don't do a lot of damage. I shot at a deer on Saturday and all I could find was a few drops of blood. I know it was a good hit but I couldn't find the deer. My boss said that the same thing has happened to him with power belts. Does anybody else have problems with them?

    HU,

My dad shot 3 a week and a half ago with them. Got all three, but very little blood on all of them. One was directly through the center of the shoulder blade broadside. One was directly behind the shoulder blade broadside. One was quartering away that entered in the middle of the deer and stopped under the off side shoulder. All took out lungs and something else. All deer ran 30-50 yd and piled up. No pass throughs, in fact he has one of the slugs that mushroomed over an inch in diameter. He had to track with the occasional blood drop or where he thought he heard the deer run.

Seems there are a lot of reviews on Cabelas website that say the same. These were 245 gr 50 cal. Shoot great and group great, just didn't kill well. I've suggested the heavier head in 50 cal or the hollow point.

    Thanks,
    rick

I use the Power Belt's in the 295grain hollow point through my 50 cal. I've killed 3 deer with these and none took a step. They all dropped where they stood. I shoot these with 100 grains of pyrodex pellets. Hope this helps.

I shoot 245 gr. aero tip with 100 gr. of 777 pellets. I was thinking about going to the TC shock wave super glides. I have heard a lot better things about them compared to the PB. I would just like a bullet that doesn't go into little pieces on impact.

How far were you shooting? Like I said earlier I've killed three deer with the combination I described and none took a step they all dropped where they were standing. I recovered 2 of the bullets and they just mushroomed out and were just under the skin on the opposite side of where I shot. The other one passed through. My shots were all within 100 yards and with 2 different guns. I upgraded last year to a break action to ease with cleaning.

I shot at 50 yards, it was a clear shot right behind the shoulders. I have killed deer with them, all of them ran and the blood trail was very small to nothing at all. I killed a buck a couple years ago in Ohio and the deer never bleed until about 50 yards away, he ran for 200 yards before I found him. Thank god I could see were he was running.

You guys want a good projectile.  Switch back to the old patch and ball.  My friend, his dad, my dad and I have shot dozzens of deer with nothing but that.  1)  They are just as acurate as the new stuff.  If I spend some time practicing I can hold 3" groups at 100yds with my flintlock, and my dad dropped one that paced 130yds in the late season.  2)  We have never had a deer go more then 30-40 yards.  3)  Tracking isn't an issue, Stevie Wonder could track them, it always looks like someone went through the woods dumping red paint.  I had one that there was blood 3 foot off the ground, it looked like something out of Predator, granted that was a heart shot.
