PFBC Angler Award Program

Has anybody done this program? Was curious to see if anybody has gotten all the species, as that would be pretty impressive . Also does the PFBC give out patches for the Catch and Release fish?

Thanks!

My kid is working on getting them all. He just got his first patch in the mail yesterday for a nice walleye.

    Yes, C&R counts if witnessed.

Note: C&R patches are all the same, not one for each species.

Plus if you aren't careful with the background in your photos and they publish it on their website or mag and it's a very little known spot it's blow.

Nice program for kids 16 & under but gotta laugh at adults that send for 'em or put 'em on their vest/coats

This one old guy (Beer Belly) had a ton on his vest, all for Crappie, oh well if it made him feel good I guess it is a good thing then. I sent for one that was a state record in the early 70's but that was it. Haven't seen it in over 20 yrs. & aint gonna look for it any time soon.

I got one for my first walleye I ever caught. Caught fishing from shore  when I was 11. Fish weighed 10 pounds 1 ounce officially but that was 16 hours after catching it. Found out they lose about 2 ounces an hour so figure the fish weighed over 12 when I caught it. The citation is hanging on my wall right next to my grandpa's citation for a 10+ pound walleye which was his last walleye he caught.

    Welcome to the board Rob!

I just recently applied for my first one since I was a kid. My son (who is 12) and myself, both caught citation walleye on the same day. We are going to frame our citations. and hang them on the wall next to one another, with a pic of us holding our fish under them.

It was a great day for both of us, and I hope he displays them proudly long after I'm gone.

Chinock(king) & Atlantic would be hard as well, very few salmon in Pa waters anymore, just a few great lakes strays and a handful of landlock atlantics in Raystown.

I agree they look stupid on your vest, I should know I had a bunch years ago and didn't realize how dumb they looked until I saw a few pics of me on the stream. I imediately bought a new vest and donated my old one to my 12 yr old nephew. I do like to earn the catch and release certificates and I just keep them in a binder, no wall displaying.
There are a few other programs out there that have angler awards: NAFC,Ohio Div of wildlife, In fisherman just to name a few. But some give pins instead of certificates. But no patches on the vest please or 100 awards on your game room walls. If you want to keep them, use a binder like I do.

24/32 on that list. Knocked off marine striper this past spring. Chinook might just be a little tough to obtain....

Great for kids, for adults the money the PFBC spends on this program could be better spent elsewhere or even spend it or the same program just enhance it for the kids.

Well it was supposed to be crappyfisher (worst fisherman ever, bad not very good, the worst...) but my son messed up while filling out the info. for screen name. We have 6 screen names on here as it is so no need to make another , just gets too confusin' for me any more.

    Never did the PFBC ones.
I was trying to get the whole list of the In-Fisherman Master Angler awards...
I don't wear the patches but have them framed in the "Mancave/Tyingroom". Nice little incentive of what's possible...
Got a pin once and got my name in the magazine for the largest Smallmouth Bass realesed in Region 1, thought that was kinda cool.

This is a little to the side but I caught a fish in the ocean this year and it weighed 58 pounds and to get a citation for it the fish had to be over 40+ so I sent it in about a week ago still waiting to get it back.

what species and what state? Through research I found Delaware has a program as well but the quailifcations are on length and not weight for C&R that is ..I would guess it would take 6 to 8 weeks to get it in the mail
