I wonder what the po folk are doin?

I wonder what the po folk are doin?......that was the repeat statement of the last four days....we asked eachother that while realizing we were the richest duuds in the world at that moment.

I took a four day float down the Allegheny river. This was my first canoe trip since I was 12 years old. Hands down, the best vacation I ever had, with the coolest duuds I know.

Myself, Deetz, Skip, and the semi-famous Mike G floated, fished, camped, drank, talked smack, and ate meat with our hands.

The fishing was so so, with Skip winning the biggest fish award with a 32" pike. Everyone got a few fish every day. Truthfully....none of us would have cared if it were a skunk.

Thanks to my buds for the best week off I ever had...look forward to doin' it again!

I only have a few pics.....more to follow I'm sure

For the better part of it we did well avoiding the rain. Mostly it only rained at night...pretty hard too. Wind, thunder, lightning...and I still slept like a baby.

The last 3 hours of our trip we got SOAKED!....still grinnin ear to ear as it came down in sheets.

Even at 8:48 on a Monday morning, that steak looks good. Canoe trips are always just challenging to get a bunch of people together to do it. Looks like a blast.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

Thanks guys for the memories and laughs. I had a great time! Minus the 2 hours I was sick due to whatever them things were that stung me. Took 5 stings from some black bee/wasp/fly. Dont know what they were but they put enough poison in me to make me sick and make my left wrist and hand turn into a club fist. Nasty bugs they were.
Found some nice folks along the river who generously gave me some Benadryl  to help get rid of the poison and itching from the stings. Aside from that I cant wait to do it again.
                                                                                               Side note: bring Benadryl!!!

    Some more pics

    Thumbs up Duud !

    Chillin

Man I would love to go on a trip like that but a canoe is wwaaaayyyy beyond my capabilities. Will that water float a 14'6" wide beam motor boat? I've got a small 7.5 motor for it. I'd really like to float the Susky from Grassflat downstream again someday. And the bucket list gets longer while the bucket gets closer.

I have a shirt that says "Paddle faster, I hear banjo music". I got it while white water rafting the new river gorge in west virginia.

GREAT pictures! I did that once about 30yrs. ago. Me,myDad,3 brothers and a freind. 3 canoes and gear. Kinzua to Tionesta. Great time. First day was rough. There was hardly any water coming out of the dam. With us and the weight of the gear, we had to get out of the canoes a couple of times and drag.lol Next day water was flow'n (we were scum, we only had burgers and dogs)

My Wife said, if I go fish'n one more time, she'll leave me! God, I'm going to miss her!
