smallmouth fishing

i am from ny and i will be coming to fish lake erie the first weekend in september. im gonna going after the smallmouth in the lake because ive heard so much about these lake erie smallies. i will have a boat and knowing how big the lake is i dont wanna go in blind. ive been doing some research on the internet and have some idea of possibly where to go. I was wondering if anyone who fishes it quite often can possibly steer me in some kind of direction

I'm from Arizona but fished there a couple weeks ago. We did well in about 20 to 30 feet of water off Shades Beach. Did good with single tail grubs, hula grubs, and dropshot Erie Darter. Good luck!

East side of Erie is best. Pull plugs and use tube jigs. @0 foot of water is a good starting place but fish might be in 15-30' depending upon conditions. Look for rock piles on bottom. Good luck!

Oops, meant 20 foot of water.
