pymie stink

Anyone know why it stinks like sulfur or rotten eggs at pygmies near the Jamestown outflow area and downstream...

My guess is its from chara(submersed water weed)next time you snag a lump of coarse, stiff weeds, crunch it up a little in your hand and smell it. some places they call it muskweed. Dont have a pic of it, it grows on the bottom gets about 2' tall at most, comes off the hook pretty easy.

Just a guess. Could it be from the dead fish earlier this year? I was at Hereford on Sun and seen a big dead trout very close to shore and man did that thing stink! Were did all the dead fish go at Pymie? Proboly got blow to one end.

The river was cloudy and brown but the water level wasn't up in the river and the lake was clear it was just from the whole dam area and the rec area under the dam and at the outflow where it smelt heavily of sulfur/rotten eggs and i saw no dead fish...

ive smelled that before at outflows during low water conditions.. reminds me of a dry summer then a heavy rain causes the storm sewers in town to make a similar smell. id say nothing to worry about..

Maybe from floating algae & dead weeds? Just saying.........

My wife told me that if I didn't stop fishing every day, she'd leave me. Some days, I really miss her.
