FIRST stream caught steelbow of fall '10...

So its that time again...

time to bet on when the first picture of a fall steelbow is posted with the claims of wall superiority
without a doubt it will include standing on dry land wearing neoprenes on an 80* day
there will be a phrase like "killing them"... "rope fest"... "secert (or) hot bait"
there will be at least 3 fingers in the gill plate and the fish will have sporadic coating dust/dirt from flopping on the ground

i predict Thursday AUG 26th

what say you???

I say you're right on all counts.

Might also be a time slot, ex: The bite is on, every day, from dawn until about 8am, then they get lockjaw until 2pm, they bite for an hour, then lockjaw again till dark.

Dont forget b!+ching about boaters using the marina.

    Kevin,

Why do you get so angry about it? I know you're having fun with it but you get bent out of shape and bitter about it every year! If you're not into it or above it or whatever the reason why not let it be? Just people having fun. Some can find 1000 things wrong with the above picture. I can't find one thing wrong with that many people enjoying themselves outdoors. Not everyone's cup of tea. Fishing's fishing, some of us will spend 2 days on that wall out of an entire year's worth of fishing for all species all the time, and some of those people get out for opening day of stocked trout and for a few days when the Steelhead first come in. Most won't be breaking any laws or rules but they definitely seem to p-ss off guys with $1000 fly setups who only like to harrass 5 inch native brook trout in a 5 foot wide stream in a forest somewhere.....

Just having fun with you KJH. I'd throw some Flatfish lures off the wall with you anytime.

I'm going one better. I'm betting aug 21 off of trout run. Of course I'm also betting on a stringer full of 13" browns taken out of walnut on the 21st too and people will be wondering why all the "trophy hunting, fly fishing, catch & release people" have such a big problem with it. After all they're "stocked" fish. And I bought a license.

    Indsquiz,

I hear what you are saying and I do agree.  However, to be fair about it, those browns are legally taken based upon size and creel limits at that time.  After September 6, a different story begins.  Perhaps changing the size and creel limits before this time will help the issue.

I'm calling the first Friday in September. A holiday weekend no less and it will be caught by me. It will be the basic hero shot. Forget 3 fingers in the gill plate, I'll have my whole arm up there, clean up to the elbow! It will be caught on a baseball size piece of skein or some brownie eggs from that morning's slit brown breakfast.

Seriously, just messin around. I'm with ya guys about respecting the resource! Can't wait for the cold weather season already, don't even want to think about the early season crowds lol.

Visited the pymy fish hatchery Sat. and talked to a fella that was really a cool dude,
He pointed me to some browns destined for the tribs.
Should be a plus for us in the future. 7" now.
Also saw paddle fish being raised for the big rivers.
    Cool looking fish.lol

Of course that's if we get rain. And the walleye didn't eat them. And the Canadians didn't net them. And the flood didn't was out the patterning, and if some weird virus didn't get them, and if someone doesn't snag them all with a big white spinning rod. And if we get some rain...
