baitcaster reels

i am debating on buying a new reel and was wondering what recommendations on what model to buy. im goin to be using it mostly for spinnerbaits on a 7 ft medium heavy rod. im strongly considering the Abu Garcia Revo S. Anyone have any feedback on this reel?

there are many good reels, the revo is one of the  good reels.  shimano makes good ones too so get a reel that feels good in your hand

I love the Shimano Curado reels, specifically the discontinued D series....the 300DSV, the 200DHSV and the 100D.   They were on sale real cheap at Gander Mountain within the last year.   the 300 went for $120 (regular $250) and the 200 and 100 could be had on sale for as little as $80.    If you were persistent you could probably find any of the 3 on eBay right now in the $100-$110 range slightly used or new.   I don't think the D series is any better or worse than the green E series, just planned obsolesence.

The 300 DSV is made for saltwater fishing and can handle the heaviest of lines.  This past Christmas I caught quite a few bluefish in FL just walking up and down the beach casting a 2 OZ spoon.    Also a good reel for northerns and muskies. The 200 DHSV is good for steelhead, large bass and trolling for walleyes.   The 100D can be used for trout.   Like any baitcaster you will be limited on how light a lure you can toss before you enter ratsnestland.   When I try to throw something lighter than 3/16 oz with the 100 I'm usually asking for it.   But I fine tune it so that I lose a little distance but still keep my line in order.   I can't really see any practical use for a baitcaster on any of the Pennsylvania steelhead streams, parts of the Catt in NY, yes, definitely and also some of the wider Ohio tribs if you wanted to throw some spoons.

I've also heard many good things about the Revo, but never owned one.

I love my older Curado (bought in '04) left handled model and used it in the the saltwater for 2 years for trout, reds and flounder and it is still alive and kicking now.

I just got a bass pro shops rcx reel and i love it.it has the dual brakes,if set right i barely have to thumb it and man does it sling 'em out there. Right now the j.m. signature reel is only about 10 bucks more, i think it has a little stronger drag but is the same thing other than that. Probably 9/10 as good as the shimano but $50 cheaper
