XForkwookie,

No one that I know hunts within 3/4 of a mile of the stumps in our pics. In two more weeks there will be no bucks at all on the salt anyway.

Better too far back, than too far forward.

As stated, the bucks have been eating salad (apples) for over a month and the steaks have started falling. They will switch to the acorns for a few weeks and then start to mix in some apples again. In my area the accorns started falling a bit earlier than normal so the switch back should happen in Oct.

I just got a second camera last week and put it up near my second stand that is in an Oak grove. Maybe it will have some pics on it. I know that my crappy camera had a bunch of captures there in a 2 week span in August, but you couldn't make anything out in the pictures, b/c the quality is so poor.

"A Homewood man led police on an hourlong car chase that ended with a crash injuring three officers.

"The car was driving itself," Wright said. "The car has a GPS. It's a Lincoln Navigator. They drive themselves. I wasn't running nowhere."

for if its to large you have to crop it down...usually you can use the "paint" program on your computer..you have to shrink it...

I like him!!!

the one from up above and a nice 8 point together.... tough to tell the size, this is my bad quality camera, but i have seen them both on the farm, and both are beautiful...

Just a little guy...

This looks to be the start of a nice buck... looks like a decent 6....

What happened here???? i would assume he broke it in velvet, have not seen him out of velvet yet...

Devil horns!!!

Mamma and baby.... is it my crazy eyes, or are their colors a little funky???

pic proves it... its that time of the year... they're going from cinnamon to their fall/winter color.  a family friend has a pet buck and he started switching a month ago, i'd imagine he's about shed completely now

For starters I see most of them appear to be taken at bait stations. I got my camera late and have been setting it up on trails leading to feed or bed and getting a lot of blank photos or rear end photos. I've also decided that the setting or rising sun can trigger it if it is facing in that direction. I have yet to learn how to move the photos from the camera to computer.I didn't realize that a few moving weeds would trigger the camera. Who knows how many other things I don't know. It's a work in progress just as learning to hunt was. It is fun trying though, just like running a trapline used to be. The anticipation of what you might have. The biggest buck I have on camera is a 16" long tined 6 point in the 4 point area.

yep, bait stations are the norm for whatever reason. I don't nor ever have set up bait. I guess it's all in what you want. I learn alot about deer movement and deer by getting them passing. Just make a scrape and pee in it. You don't even have to pee in it .. they stop and check fresh dirt every time. That'll correct many of your butt pics. Nowadays you can get a good camera for around $80 - $100 with good trigger speed. Some with not so good trigger speed have wider sensing range which makes them about the same. Check out www.chasingame.com .. they are usually spot on with their reviews. I spray mine down with homemade cover scent, but still try to use the dominate wind direction. Everybody gets a blank photo here and there. Warm weather and a little wind will often trigger pics. You could place your camera parallel with the trail too to correct the butt pics.

Also, if you are only running one cam you're missing alot. I started with one and many weeks ended up with no pics. It's not uncommon for me to get zero pics on a cam or two every camera.

Bigger diameter trees are surely better. Deer easily see them on small trees. Bears too. Put them about 5 feet off the ground and point them down a litte. I use about one inch sticks and actually bought some wood shims to put behind the cams against the tree. They angle the cams nice. The shims took 3 months to lose their cut wood smell. I also spray paint my straps green or brown, but that's for more of a theft thing.

There should be directions with your camera. If you were able to sign onto this site, you'll be able to figure it out. I'm hoping you have a USB connection available on your cam.

The only catch and release deer hunting. I enjoy it as much as hunting season.
