Trail cam pics

Checked cameras today and found this guy.
Hope he's not one of those 20" wide 6 points...

Nice to see some pics bings. He's a wide one for sure. I just put mine out for the first time Saturday. In the summer range of the deer I hunt, close to people. Makes me nervous but got some machined security boxes made up. They're gonna work for them if they want them.

My reports and advice are for everyone to enjoy, not just the paying customers.

Bing, my buddies who hunt a Crawford Co. farm see those same 6 pointers every year. I guess thats a good thing right? I love just seeing more bucks. Gotta remember when I was young (in the 80s and 90s) our group only saw tons of doe, EVERY year. Didn't matter whether we hunted the ANF or Erie Co. NO BUCKS.

Nice pix. Since there were no bucks in the 80s and 90s at least there is one now.

The one I've had the best luck with is a Scoutguard 550..It's an IR...
Runs forever on a set of batteries..Only issues is you get a few white out photos when it changes from day to night..

The best pics come from the homebrew cameras. Have two of those with Sony DSC-P32 cameras in them with Bigfoot boards.

I have 2 Moultries that are ok but eat up D batteries which aren't cheap anymore...

I been using the cuddeback capture for two years now. They take great pics and have a fast trigger speed. Also battery life is amazing.I left them up my brothers for 3 months this winter because of the snow when we went to get them they were still taking pics.If you buy one get the bear cage buy some good lag bolts and a great pad lock.

I have too. I only thing I dont like is there are no parts avalible for IR. I film a lot of bears and on flash bears are gone and don't return. I understand there is a flood flash, I will have to see how that would work out.I have been using 4 Prowlers, 2 Stealth flash, and 2 Moultries IR. I had a couple of the IR Prowlers go bad and a Moultrie went bad a couple weeks ago. I use them all year long and have several in bear boxes, I was wondering if anyone else had any problems with these models?

We had deer we raised since then been on a bottle one of them died last fall after we cut his horns off.The one in this picture escape after 6 years. We have no clue why or how he got out but he did. There is no holes in the fence or nothing. He was always wild he never calm down but the one that died it was like a dog he was just as big if not bigger. They didn't get no special feed just sweet feed and corn.

Hey bings did you buy the homebrews or make them yourself? Looking into making one and having a mentor would be nice. There is a guy on hagsforum that is from erie but I have not talked to him yet. Looking for some cheap P32s or maybe a P41 if I am lucky.

HC I've got 2. One I built and the other one of my buds made...
I made the one that opens vertically, I prefer the box being mounted in the horizontal position, easier to open and check..

Here is a little info and some pics....Hags and BF outdoors have tons of info....
Can't find the pics of the camera hack have to keep looking...

    I used a Pelican 1040 case
Sony P32 camera- with stero jack plug hack on the camera.
    A Bigfoot camera control board.
    Fresnel lens.

Still need some black eva foam to fill in but it works ok for now..

Most intimidating part is hacking the camera.

Tearing apart a perfectly good camera and then taking the rotozip to it was a little unsettling..
    Total build cost was $125

Yeah, Im looking around for cameras now and im going to buy one of the ready to go kits for my first one. It will be a little bit more but it should be easy as the hack and then snap into place. I may have to hit you up for help when hacking it. I already have the soldering iron, just haven't used it.
