Pymy report

3 legals, 7 short ones, lost 2 legal ones at boat.  Bunch of crappies and perch.  On water at 7 am off at 5 pm
Tried harnesses and plugs.  All eyes came off plugs.  Not too bad of a day.  Taking a couple of kids on Tuesday.  Hope we can get some for them.

Sounds like you're having better luck than me.  Yep, tots took all mine on lead core in the channel, south end.

Did Ok Saturday but the wind and floating grass kind of put the damper on some good trolling runs. Pretty hard to maintain the right speed. Did anyone else notice how warm the fish felt when you went to un-hook them? Mine all came in the 17-20 foot range on tots.

Pinch a small split shot or put on a speed bead (sp?) 5-7' up the line from the lure and it should catch most of the grass that is following the line down to the lure.  Might not go as deep when you get weeded up but it should keep the bait running good.

One legal one @ 25", probably around 15 short ones.  The wind was howling from the NW which made boat control a bit difficult going north.  Still had a good day.  The boys had fun and we caught a lot of fish. Boat going to shop tomorrow so I'll be out of commission for awhile.

Fished the lake today for crappies.  Dead calm morning and we caught a few nice crappies in 9 FOW across the lake from the Espyville Marina.  Moved around quite a bit and never had much success.  A few dink perch at each stop and a sub-legal walleye.  We rented a 14' motorboat from the Espyville Marina and it was a great deal.  Winds picked up by early afternoon and motoring back in that tin can with the whitecaps I thought of the paper weight JFK kept on the Resolute Desk: "O Lord thy sea is so great and my boat is so small."  Denny

Espyville has some great deals on boats during the week. Motorboat w/9.9hp for 50 bucks compared with jamestown 55 for a motorboat w/6.0hp

As the water warms the fish exit the shallows. You must be willing to take that 3-4 mile run if you want to find quality fish and some structure, from espyville. Just my two cents.

$53 out of espyville and their purrty good with their times. They have it posted as 7am start but have been know to let ppl out well in advance. Back time is decent too. This is an allday rental on weekdays only. That is with a 9.9

$58 out of Jamestown with a 6.0hp times are tight on 10 hrs. I vote for espyville, but get yourself a map and don't expect espyville to put you on fish, the guy down jamestown will.

i know the guy in jamestown really well and he has never been anything but great to me. we've rented boats off of him and he always tells us where to catch fish. never had much luck in espyville. that's just my 2 cents, though

I agree I like the guy out of jamestown 10x's better than the folks out of espyville. HE WILL put you on fish, season permitting. That extra 4 hp really makes a difference when you trying to cover LOTS of water. Going into a headwind and against current you can run a tank empty pretty quick in a (6hp). And it takes a lot longer too I might point out!

Rented the 14' aluminum w/ a 6hp out of Jamestown today.  The guy at the livery was very helpful.  Morning fishing was pretty good near the weed beds: some very nice perch, a few short eyes, and quite a few catfish.  As the sun got higher & hotter we tried deeper water but the bite slowed considerably.  The 6hp got us every where the 10hp did but I can imagine there is a difference in wind, waves, current, etc.  What a beautiful lake - fast becoming one of my favorite places.  denny

denny, i don't think there are too many places in our area that are any more beautiful in the spring or fall.  absolutely love that lake and its diversity.

    Glad you got into them.

We took the kids out on a rented pontoon on Sat. and got a late start (didn't break the marina wall until 10am) and hit my usual spots above and below the causeway and only got into some barely keeper crappies, bluegills and some small perch.  Kids weren't much into trolling so I only got about an hours worth of that in and only a couple small perch and crappie to show for it.  Kids did great though and loved the toon and hung in there in the heat for 6 hrs.  Shade sure helps.  Wife wants to buy a pontoon now and wants me to sell my 14 footer.  Told her two boats are not a problem as long as we can dock the toon somewhere.

Was reeeel slow over the holiday weekend.
Fished a lot, talked to quite a few guys at the launch,
one duo of old timers said they had 3 keepers on the whole weekend....only 3 I heard of. All weekend.

Hoping this 'cold' front does the trick.

It was slow going last weekend!  I did good Friday but Saturday and Sunday were a bust!  Maybe too much action on the lake?  On Friday, the lake was like a giant mud puddle.  I watched the amish with my binoculars and learned a few things.  Slow Zig-Zag troll.  Watch the fish-finder and call your buddies when the fishing is good!  It is amazing how many show up when the bite is on!  What would they do without cellular phones???  Maybe we should take a lesson?  Anyways.....It was a beautiful weekend and I was happy to see everyone out and about doing there thing!  Heading up tomorrow.  Report back on Monday.

    Hit the Pymy today..
Man was it miserable out there for a while.
Got soaked again and blown off again, just can't get a break weather wise down there.
Did manage 8 eyes, 2- keepers and 6 shorties.
Picked up a few Crappies and Perch also...

fished saturday 1 legal and 4 shorts along with about a dozen really nice perch. watchen a little amish boy pullin in a 40 inch musky right next to me and wouldnt you know it as soon as he did his dad pulled out a cell phone and called his other amish buddies up to let em know. i have a small complaint though while i was fishing i had little kids on sail boats with some guy chasing them in his im not sure if he was teaching them or what but they ran over my lines about 10 times and one time almost hit my boat missed it by inches. never even got a sorry or anything i even asked them not to run over my lines but didnt seem like they cared

sailboats have the right of way and on that lake ive never seen one that could care less how close they get or how many lines they run over. ever been up there when a bunch of them line up in jamestown, run to the causeway and race back...its MAYHEM. just sayin'
