This could be great if done correctly. I say private boats, but launch and anchor for the day near each other, then go eat together and BS erie stories for the rest of the day  I would be able to accomodate 1-2 ppl depending on when it happens. The boat is in da pic!

Actually,  I think the idea of a "get together" is awesome and congrats to liverache for thinking of it.  As for kids, I know that if I drove 500 miles and left a certain 5'8" 14 year old at home I might get an azzwhippin when I did return.  And as for lauguage, he is old enough to hear, smart enough not to repeat, and big enough to laugh at language.  He recently told his mom that his im volleyball team "got their asses handed to them" and my daughters' jaw almost hit the floor.  But I agree, if it's going to be adults only and there's only room for 30 then keep it adults only. But if you want to include kids, , , I might have to make the trip.  Brandon can fish, and I'll puke for a couple of hours.

I agree'd to the private boat get together instead of EJ because #1, I peronsally don't like the bigger boat charters. And 2nd' from what I read, the "regulars" were ****ed because they couldn't get on. That is BS! and 3rd because I don't think it's fair to make it adult only. Not that I don't mind having adult only get togethers. But this time of year is perfect to get the kids out with fellow fisherman and learn the sport. I wasn't trying to diss the idea or anyone else on this board either. Plus, what more fun would it be if the fish and boat commision came up to a group like that.

I've never been on erie perch fishing but i'd love to go. i'd be willing to help any way i could with fuel and all that. as for the kid thing, i could care less. if their parents want to take them and show them how to fish, then great. we need more young people to get involved in the outdoors.

I think we should make this happen. I've been nominated by Mr. Slickperch, but have no clue on how to set something like this up. Any suggestions?

Pick a dock , date , and time show up or be square Perhaps each person state how many they can take and list it that way .... Would we have a fish fry afterwards ????? Some folks clean fish , some folks cook em ....

I'm in but the only Saturday in July I'm available is the 31st ..... should have room for 3 extras if that date works let me know ASAP so I don't book it .....

Also maybe Jim at Follies would be kind enough to donate his pavillion area for the meal festivities if he gets some campers from it or we can pay him ?

I would be in depending on date. I can take 3 or 4 more and can do a kids or kids free depending on what is decided.

Better too far back, than too far forward.

RE: Perch outing for Fish Erie? 2010/06/28 12:25:30 (permalink)
I will step-up and organize this guys with some help from others....

Lets plan on Sat July 31st..(weather permitting) Launch from Walnut creek, lets meet at 5:30 and back to dock by 12:30 for cleaning/picnic

Looks like we have some interest and a fleet of boats. So far we have these boats that have shown interest, but have to confirm dates. Kids Welcome but let's try to keep it to 1 adult and your 1-2kids, or 2 adults and 1 kid...You get the picture. There are some boats that can accomodate up to 4 extra people but I don't want to split parents/kids up.
Here are the boats that are in, but have to confirm date:

Captains/Boats:
1. Musky Master-4 ppl
2. Kingnuke-3 ppl Confirmed- (BIGSLICK, Streamfisher & Son [15 Y.O.]) Full
3. Dream Catcher-3 ppl Confirmed (MM, Beeverfisher, Acmaul & Son [10 Y.O.], Ernie420) Full
4. Bloodyhand-3 ppl Confirmed- (SF & VP, Skip) Full
5. Bulldog-3 ppl Confirmed (6pt7, "Anonymous" fisherman, Bro-law and Son) Full
6. Lundking-2 ppl Confirmed (Dad and Mr. Twister) Full
7. Lureloser-2 ppl
8. Fisherlady-4ppl Confirmed (Jolie and Daughter[10 Y.O.], Hendy and GF)Full

Fisherpeople:
1. Beeverfishing-1
2. Slickfish-2
3. Mountain Man-1
4. Streamerfisher-2
5. Acmaul-2
6. Jolie-2
7. Hendy-2

Captains please confirm that you can make this date. PM me or post to this forum and I will update accordingly. Any other captains out there that are willing to take some ppl please PM me or post to this forum.

Fisherperson's, If you would like to join in, please PM me or post to this Forum. For now we have 20 open seats. May be more, may be less depending on what Captains can make that day. Please be aware that all children 12 and under must wear a PFD at all times. Captain's are required to have enough PFD's on board for all passengers, but they may not be comfortable for the kids to wear all day, so if you can, bring a PFD appropriate for your child. When posting, let me know how old your child is so we can try to find a PFD if they are 12 or younger. Also, adults 16 and older are required to have valid PA Fishing License with Lake Erie Stamp if they plan on fishing. There is no cost associated other than helping with fuel and bait bill. Once we know more, we can start a food list and everyone can help there too....

Lets make it happen and once again, kids are welcome!

I'm in...me and VP. I can pretty much vouch Bloodyhand will be in. We will probably ride with him. Which leaves room for one more in his boat.

I would like to extend an offer to Liverache to ride with us. No hard feelings duud...the outing idea itself was great, and I apologize if I set off the hijack. Hope you'll join us.

If not we can take one more....I'll call Bloody in the morning to confirm his presence.

Thanks Bigslick for steppin up. If I can do anything to assist....holla

Folks, I'm a little late to the thread but, there's a whole summer ahead of everyone. There's more than one weekend of summer ahead. Having a family fishing day and another weekend for adults is an option for everyone. Simple solution.

I don't know any parents who never wanted to have a little time away from the kids for themselves to relax and just hang loose with adult friends. Myself included. That doesn't make you a bad person. Maybe there are some couples on this board that would like to get away for a mini-kidless-weekend-get-away and get together and meet face to face with other board members and spouses.

Some of the best memories I have is fishing with my kids when they were younger. I'll cherish the memories forever. Other favorite memories were when there were no children around and it was "adults" only. To each, their own.

Either way you go the key is too enjoy yourself. RELAX! HAVE FUN! MAKE NEW FRIENDS!

Like Tim said if not over 50 ppl that would work. I could take a few ppl and feesh back to camp to clean at the station there while the rest clean at BS table. Whoever rides with me is likely to get in a little eye action too, anyone have a kid who never caught an eye.

We're in... can take 2 or 3 folks with us... will drop our boat back at camp so it won't be taking up a 'parking space'...

edit to add... for the sake of organizing and preventing too many changes at ramp, I would suggest that anyone with specific requirements please let BigSlick know ahead of time... ie.. smoking vs non-smoking (that's for both captains and passengers)... physical restrictions? do you have your own gear or need to borrow?   Do you need to have a boat with shade available, toilet available?  I know these may seem picky to some folks but it may be very important to others and make the day easier.
Speaking for myself we could launch a bit later than the planned 0630 if need be to accomodate someone who may be driving a long distance or have work restriction that prevents them from getting there right at 0630... we wouldn't have as much time to fish but it may mean someone else gets to go.

Fisherlady makes some good points. Please let me know if you have any special requests and we will try to do the best we can to honor them. Also if you need gear, let me know, I have a ton of perch rigs and about 6 or 7 perchin rods.

Also, Is anyone that is coming from out of town interested in camping at folley's end? It may make picnic area easier to get if we can get some campers there.

Thnx

BigSlick put Streamerfisher and Son with us. And if needed we can add one more to our boat if there is a straggler and nobody else has room.
