Perch outing for Fish Erie?
I remember a few years back that someone got a perch trip together for Fish Erie on the Edward John and I had a good time with meeting alot of you(fishing stunk that day though), would any of you like to try it again this year maybe mid to late August or even Sept.I have not talked with anyone about getting the EJ for the morning or evening(but will), so anyway just trying to get a feel on the interest level , just post and I'll go from there as a starting point . My thinking right now is keeping it for fisherie members only and adults only, (some of us cant control our language around anyone)

I think Beerman put together a trip on the Ej awhile back...I could be wrong. I would be interested in a "perch outing", if your kid ban was lifted, or modified. If VP ain't invited....I'm out....without hard feelings. Some duuds don't like to fish with the kids....and thats ok with me. If I went out on the perch bouy and left my boy home.....I'd never be forgiven. Maybe a bring your kid at your own risk policy?....you probably can't say much my kid ain't heard. He hears, but is smart enuff to not repeat. lEtMeNoK

Its not that I dont like fishing with kids, actually just the opposite, its just that the boat is only so big and if I am not mistaken the last time a few of the regulars on here couldnt get on because the kids took the spots, lets see how well this goes and if the response is light then we could let the kids on.How about this, lets give it till July 4th and on the 5th of July we will open it up to the kids

I would think there is enough boats here to put together an outing like this without donating for a boat ride. I have room for 3 for perchin besides me and the first mate. Just an idea, and kids are ALWAYS welcome on my boat. In my opinion doing something like this without kids kills the event, events like these are things that bring comraderie together in the fishing community and when kids see that they want to be a part of it. I consider myself a very serious angler and love to fish and i do so every chance i get. But I will aways give up a spot or a chance to fish to take a child out fishing and let them experience what i love so much. I get a kick out of a kid hookin into something and seeing his eyes light up when he brings the fish to the boat. That to me is worth more than catching some fish and telling the kid to move out of my spot or not to come at all. Let the kids be kids while they can be. They will grow up someday and look back on fishing with that special someone and wanna do the same for a child they know. Liverache I think its kinda rude that you even mention not wanting kids on the boat. Cant fishing just be a relaxing day full of fun once in a while? When its all said and done thats what fishing is all about anyway. No hard feelings just my opinion.

I agree with, " I am sure there is enough boats so the kids can go along" Personally I don't like the "big" charter boats. They get way to crowded. I would rather see all of us get together and take our own boats, and then meet up afterwards for a picnic or something. And of course, kids are always welcome with us too!

Pending my work schedule I'd be good to go (I often don't get off of work till 0700 on Saturdays, then 3 hrs to Erie... so Saturday mornings are very iffy unless off Friday, sorry) We'd have room for 2 or 3 more on our boat, but be warned, its a Center Console, so no cuddy for facilities! Portapotty in front with blanket! LOL

Liverache... I don't want anyone on here to be upset... and I don't read your posts as intending to upset anyone...I have never had trouble with the folks participating in this thread and don't want to see ill feelings because of it between anyone!... each person here has their own idea of how they want a day to be and I can understand the attraction of being able to walk on a boat and be able to socialize and fish without having to worry about the technicalities involved. For myself, I am not familiar with the EJ, have never been on it, don't know how many people it will hold and if they do 'exclusive' trips that would allow it be just Fish Erie folks, and if so what that cost may be... there are probably those on here who would be interested. Some folks may prefer the larger boat as opposed to personal watercraft... keep the idea open and folks can participate as they want...

I have no boat big enough for Erie but if enough people are interested I'm in if there is room for 1 or 2. The Edward John or tag along with boat owners, either way is fine with me. Be glad to help with gas expenses also on private boats. I think on the last perch outing I caught one perch so hopefully the catching will be better this time if it's a go.

Yes, I'm guilty of organizing a couple of FishUSA perch outings in the past. I met some good dudes from this site in the past and had a great time. Personally I would be interested in going on the EJ sometime at the end of summer (August), with some members of this site. Let's keep the dialog about this topic going!

I would like to reiterate what fisher lady said...never did I mean to "diss" anyone. I'll share water with any of you anytime, anywhere. But if my boy can't come....your probably not my type of people. Thats my sheet, not yours. Not that there's anything the matter with that...I'm just a duud that sincerely enjoys fishin with my kid...or any kid for that matter. Sorry if I sent the thread downhill. Your entitled to your own day out...on your own terms....sorry if I came across wrong. When I said no disrespect....I meant it....to each they're own duud....Hope ya have a great trip....my apologies....sincerely.

gizmos , Ill take 4 foot rollers over a 2 foot chop. As long as the rollers aint cappin' Ill stay out all day. Sometimes a 2 foot chop is rougher than the bigger rollers in a small 16 foot aluminum boat.

Well the one positive thing that has come from this is, some of you have opened up and offered rides to people that usually cant get out there, lets see how that works out! As for my idea, if someone wants to follow through on this speak up and take over, I'm done.

we'll I might seriously consider going... if we can get to a place and time. it seems odd to stumble over the issue of kids-- after all , you guys did this before. where kids invited then or not? I will not lie, taking a kid might make this an easier sell for the wife. but...I don't know. It'll prolly be a sell either way. nonetheless its a shame to give up on the idea entirely. you had what 30 some anglers together last year, didn't you? I always think about going to the get together , well one day I'm going to do it! & Perchin off the EJ would be a good one. If greg or whoever is willing to set a date and start a list. I'll go ask for permission .
