I was up to Pymie today (not to fish) and I didn't see any ice. Frost, where did you get the nice Wiper?

split shot,

i got that last year at moraine.  it was 28 1/2" and 10 5/8 lbs.  i caught it on a white spinner bait with ultra light gear.  that fish on ultra light was, well, an extremely fun catch.

i caught one almost the same size at pymy 2 years ago.

There is very little left. Took a drive around. Started at Jamestown- went to the welcome inn- then to the causeway- no ice
open water for as far as I could see

Fished Pymy last night in one of my early season crappie honey holes.  NO ICE LEFT AT ALL on the north end.  In fact, the surface temp of the "hole" was 55 degrees.  Didn't take much to get 'er up there.  Needless to say, we caught fish.

no i was up there tuesday, and saw guys catching them.  they were snagging them off the bottom while jigging for eye's, but they are starting to move in.  i dont know how great it will be this year with the spillway being closed for 10 months now or so.  it may take some time for the carp to get back in there with the numbers of past years.  they will definetly be back though

I fished the causeway yeasterday - only 3 perch.  Didn't get anything at the spillway - couldn't get close enough.  Saw a few crappie and a couple carp taken - not the best day.

Fished Pymatuning yesterday (Saturday 3/31) for crappies.  Have only fished the lake a few times before so it was a learning event for me.  Launched at Jamestown at 7:00AM.  Didn't get into any fish until 12:45PM.  Found them off a point in 19' of water.  Had been fishing much shallower all day so maybe I was in the wrong depths all day.  Caught 7 before having to leave at 1:45PM.  Seem to have a pretty good average size to them with the biggest being 13.5".  Was using slip bobbers with minnows and fishing the bait only a few feet from bottom.  Hope to get to go back again in a few weeks to try it again.  Was surprised at how few boats I saw on the lake.

Yes you can fish there but the outflow is under the inland regs.

Where is a good place to start wading ? I've fished here with boat at Orchard Park, Tuttle, and Linesville but never tried wading. Have a good idea of what tackle to use just don't know the safer and more productive spots.

Is there a day time bite at all or just a dawn and dusk bite ? Used to catch them all through out the day trolling but that was in deep water..

Anyone catching eyes at pymy? Even though weather is colder it should be more stable than when the front first moved in.

Broken back rapalas, wally divers,or small spinners nice slow retrieve. Smaller baits help becuase the fish aren't so aggressive yet.
