Minn Kota 55 Auto Pilot

On my last fishing trip, my Minn Kota started smoking out ot the compartment under the battery tester, where all the wiring is. It shut off, but I could get it to start, however I quit using it for the day. When I got home I could not get it to run, it would only make a "clicking sound". I could not find any wires that were burned/melted, and the turning motor still works. Has anyone has a similar problem, or have any idea as to what the problem could be?

Hopefully you didn't fry your mother board, cost me close to $300 to replace mine.
