ORIGINAL: SFMUSKY We should start a Mon/Yough River Musky Assocoation. This would help get our voice heard with the fish commission with future stockings. Whatever happened to this great idea? I'm interested.

ORIGINAL: musky maniac ya same here..i fish out of a 09 17ft tracker dont have much problems with wakes but make it very annoying i like to troll certain structures and find myself driving around parked boats on river cause they are swimming. i feel u avid angler i run a video soon as i get a hookup do all my work inside big frabill do quick measure on bump board stand up and back in water.. i just pull pics off the video so there is no time wasted to pose for pic, the 48 swam away quickly and straight down.. this is what worries me about new anglers taking too long with fish and stresses them cause even if they swim off they usually float back up a little later from the stress. its a time to be very careful with these temps muskys stress very easily, so anyone new to musky fishin please take notice. MM, you should consider doing a video of proper release methods and posting it here.

Hey guys and I guess maybe girls, I am new at this musky fishin had my first follow on the juniata river by lewistown but that isnt where I live. I have been fishing more localized to the river drainages you are talking about. I am having problems getting an actual strike. I can get follows and even swipes, but have yet to make contact. Is there anything that you could recommened doing to maybe break my drought. Or is what I am experiencing just the nature of the beast.

yea thats just the nature of the beast, those such reasons are what seperates the musky fishermen from the ones that want to be.....hang in there it will happen. personally i prefer trolling and cast at times that what i feel are best casting times such as early morn and evenings during high light hrs trolling puts the fish in my boat..

Thanks for the info maniac. I was thinking that was the case just kinda discouraging when you can see them and not catch them. Looks like alot of you boys on here are putting some really nice fish in the boat. I am planning on being one of those musky fisherman.I'm not giving up.the river i am fishing is small and pretty shallow but the fish are def there kinda of limits my presentations

was out yesterday also, took a rookie with me we hooked up on what i think was a good one she stayed deep and looked like had some big headshakes but my friends not used to battleing big fish after it went on a deep power run he let slack in the line before reeling and thats all that fish needed off just like that, it was heartbreaking to me havin to stand there with the net and see it all happen and not be able to do anything, but thats what being a rookie is all about i guess. im hoping to get out tomorrow prob be by myself so will try to get one.

hi everybody, I live in Pittsburgh. I'm a new musky fisher, I started a couple of months ago without any success. I fish the lower Allegheny area and I don't have any boat so I fish from the shore. Do you guys have any advice for me ?

sure pittsboy......i started out fishin from shore myself and october has allways been a good month shore fishin.. i would concentrate casting creek mouths, i used too have alot of success with small bucktails and shallow running crankbaits such as a shallow invader or shallow raiders.. creek mouths would be first choice then maybe any place with structure being wood ,rocks, weeds, that are close enough u can cast too along the river.. once it gets later into fall or say winter i also done good with throwing large jigs, dont have to be nothin special used to use a large football head jig with a 6inch mogambo grubb tail. big thing is that u just stay with it persistance pays off. good luck to you .. dont know if this will help alot but its what i done and it worked for me.
