ive been fishin arthur alot this yr. seems to be good bit of 50in skies caught this spring there. talked to a fellow that caught a 44 close to us, he said he just released a 53incher earlier that day and a 52 day before. noticed he was pullin wileys which is somethin i didnt have in my tackle. so decided to get online and get a few browesed through pics on site seen ur pic. nice fish by the way looks like a river fish to me color wise. arthur skies seem to be more of a darker color, so was wondering which one a river or lake fish?

musky junky builds his own double 10s and 8s. also in sigle blades after seeing larry dahlbergs under water sounds of musky lures and hearing how loud the single blade 10 was. he does a great job actually like em better than cowgirls being that he adds to it and blades turn soon as u start reeling. made me one for trolling added extra weight to it to get it down.

The fish in my avatar is a lake fish, wish i could say i caught it from the river but i didn't. It was 49" with 27.5" girth caught trolling a 5.5" firetiger jtd wiley. Wiley cranks are just about as good as they get for trolling crankbaits, they put alot of fish in the boat for guys all across the US and Canada and run extrememly well under high speeds. Leos and Legend perchbaits are nice baits too and made locally. I cast more then i troll especially in the river.

Congrats! Thats a hell of a river fish! No never fished the mon, i primarily fish the allegheny and hit a few lakes, keystone, pymy and arthur. Need to further my horizons a little more but it keeps me busy. What kind of speed did she hit on the beleiver? I've owned a few but never had much luck with them, i know guys say they love pulling them fast. I own a few 8" Jakes but couldnt get them to run much over 3mph before they started pulling to the surface. I like 9" grandmas too, they seem to run well and dig good even on a short line.

water temp was in mid 50s was runnin believer 30ft behind boat which gets it down 10ft at 3.8 mph. know alot of guys say they have a problem with jakes blowing out. i can run mine at 7mph before blowin out. just bend eye oppisite direction that its turning untill u get it tuned. i pick fish up on jakes runnin 5mph usually summertime speed. 8in is my fav size but run 10in alot in late summer and fall. was a hot lure this spring for me got 46.5 , 45, 45, several low 40,s durin spawn time. if u look on cover of june pa outdoor news thats one of the 45s i got in april it was a thick fish as well.

Yeah i'd say thats a real good spring. I got a few small fish trolling the river this spring but nothing decent. Spring seems to be the best time for me to troll and i can troll shallow short lines, i get more action then and once summer hits i get way more action casting blades jerks and topwater. I've been trying some different things trolling in the summer to increase my success but its a tough bite for me. I got a few fish in the fall last year trolling the river too but they were small, most of the big fish come trolling and thats what i'm looking for when trolling.

the mon river especially the 2 pools i fish are deep mostly 25 or 30ft and act more like a resivour in the summer when not much rain, i do good trolling deeper with ernies and jakes down 10 to 15ft. allways some fish in the weeds. usually 5mph through summer . thats about where im at now startin that deeper run. been runnin 5ft down 5mph along weed edges, but water temps in mid 80s right now which is way early for those temps gotta think the bigger girls are deeper throughout the day. hoping to get out tomorrow and see what i can do might have to get my neighbor to go with me so i can run 4 lines.

guys

you can buy wiley lures online at muskythrills.com. they have every make, model, & color you'd want. you can also buy them at o'donnell's bait shop on rt 19 near lake arthur.

Got a 25" this evening and lost one that left 2 of its teeth in my leo jerk..never saw it. Raised two more upper 30s fish. One of them nights and the full moons still a few days off.

Does any one know if Dale (Wiley) sell them at his place or do you have to buy through his site. I know Gander in Moon has a few.

attempting my real first time at targeting musky on the mon this weekend i think. going to be fishing elizabeth to charleroi pool(http://www.pagameandfish.com/fishing/muskies-pike-fishing/PA_0706_02/index2.html - page 3), and will most likely be trying to find and cast trib areas and other structure. What are everyones suggestions? I will most likely be throwing a double 10, hellhound, and mini-medussa. And if trolling, I'll be pulling a jake or grandma.

Pretty sure he only sells thru his website and custom fits all orders, i know the Fish Education Center carries some not sure about the selection though. I'm currently waiting for 10 baits i ordered back in april for my Lake St. Clair trip.

Find the best looking weeds and cast the edges thouroughly multiple times throughout the day. Not sure about the water color in the mon but i'm guessing its close to the lower alleghenys color so i would stick to bright chartruese or oranges as they are my go to colors 90% of the time on the river no matter what the light conditions are. Troll deep cause if they ain't tucked on weed edges or wood their most likely gonna be deep with water in the high 70s. I get most of my fish late afternoon and evening this time of year... Good luck!

i fish mon regularly....water temps right now 84 degrees....first thing first hope u are equipped for musky, such as large tangleproof net, suffient rod and line to get it in quickly and tools for quick hook removal cause it is necessary to release them quickly as possible withn temps this high....dont want to see anymore dead mishandled muskys floatin... avidangler gave good advice lots of weeds on mon right now. i would target weeds that drop off into deep water.. except early mornings and evenings they are deep...tribs are good but would check out from tribs for suspended baitfish instead of in the tribs water very warm. i mainly troll best thing to do is look for balls of baitfish and whatever depth they are thats where my lure will be, right now seeing baitfish 7 to 10ft down so a good suggestion would be one lure 7ft one lure 10ft and dont be afraid to troll right down mid river everyone trolls edges when they suspend in middle alot. hopefully that gives u a starting point..

Fished Pigeon Lake this week and all my Musky were caught on Wiley Lures.  Dale Wiley and friends were there and they out fished any other guys I talked too.  They had at least 4 Muskies over 48 inches and 1 over 50.  Learned a lot talking with his friend John.  Musky Thrills has the best selection of Wiley Baits that I have seen.  Every lure is hand made and tested.

I was just at the races with Dale Wiley tonight. He is swamped with orders. He cut his 2 week trip down to one week this year. He does not sell direct as he dosent like computers and have paypal. Shoot me a pm if you need some Wileys and I will get them for you. I can even save you a buck or two. I will be talking to him on Monday if anyone needs an order placed. Average order is 3 months right now. He makes every lure as they are ordered. He has no stock. I may have some doubles that you are after.

Yes it is in Bob Cagen Ontario. It is part of the Kawarthas chain. There are some great musky lakes there. If you are planning a trip look up Green Acres. He has nice cottages for good prices and is right on Pigeon Lake. I been there twice and hope to go back next year.
