No luck on musky dawgs for me either but their are people that swear by them. They are more of a trolling lure i prefer to cast.

It's my first year with the bug...

I've focused entirely on Arthur and have had some follows, 2 fish on, but have yet to get one in the boat.  I plan to work the rivers but right now I'm finding it hard to put down my pride and give up on Arthur.

I've been trolling a Leo Musky Dawg.  I may get one of the smaller Leo models to cast as that Dawg is just too big to throw regularly IMO.

I'm interested in seeing what kind of information this thread collects.

Ya you just can't beat a spinner bait in the weeds i use alot of grim reapers and M&G's. M&G's are heavier great for speed presentations.

I've been fishing the Reapers and Slop Masters.  I like the Slop Masters because of the swim jig head.  Makes it easy to buzz them over the real thick stuff...  Reapers have nicer blades.  Don't know what M&G is...

I like to run my spinnerbaits through the weeds seem to have better luck. When running them though the weeds you will feel it hitting the weeds when you feel them don't rip it though cause they will get hung up on your lure just stay at same retrieve.

salmo skinners rock. i made a adjustment to mine cause it would blow out at trollin speeds at 4mph or higher no matter how u tuned it. so i gambeled and made a noreturn adjustment which turned out awesome. now she will run at 5mph and walk side to side like a believer and still has the unique rollin action. really think gonna be my new fav lure.

I live in Belle vernon and have fished there a decent amount. I haven't caught a legal fish there since 2006. Just like every other place that has been stocked over the years there are a few in there but really gotta work for them on the Mon. And the boat traffic... geez! It is picking up now with temps in the 80's

I've been skunked the handful of times at Arthur but hopefully I'll get a kicker motor soon to fish those NW Pa lakes.

Speaking of the Mon... If alot of people are reading this and want to fish the Mon for muskies we need to speak up and try to get them stocking it again. They may start with some tigers again in selected areas but without a stocking program we won't be talking about mon muskies much in the future.

Call the Fish and Boat Commission. Tell them you have caught muskies there, enjoy fishing it, and want to see it stocked again!

    Mike,

I would like to thank you for you work with the Fish Commission letting us float stock the Yough.  It gives the Musky fingerlings a better chance of survival.  With limited resources they are stocking fewer places with a higher density of fish.

amen to that....i have been talking to mr lorson at fish commission. and he has gotton us fish that will be stocked this yr. however need more voices to get whole mon stocked they are stocking only one pool. uhh not gonna say which people will have to do there homework. but needless to say everyone needs to speak up. give em a call. they stopped for money reasons and think there is a lack of interest on the mon. soo we need voices lots more voices.

Thank you Dave... The float stocking is not a one man project. Last year went great with the number of people and boats we had. I just hope we can continue and maybe even be helping stock the mon someday.

We should start a Mon/Yough River Musky Assocoation.  This would help get our voice heard with the fish commission with future stockings.  I know there is a Moraine Musky Association.  It wouldn't hurt.
