Presque Isle 5-0

As I was driving the Peninsula this evening, an unmarked van had a vehicle pulled over. As I passed, I saw it was a park ranger, with red and blue lights in the windshield. They've gone incognito. It's a newer white minivan, municipal plates. Thought I'd share.

Remember there are fakes out there. Dont do anything untill you ask who pulled you over to bring a marked vehicle to your location. Just Sayin'. If such person cant produce a marked vehicle to assist them then see ya later , have a nice day.

We've had wanna be, fake, fruitcakes doing it around here. If your ever unsure, call 911 and ask the dispatcher to verify it is an actual LE officer trying to stop you. (Give your location, type of vehicle etc...) As always, try to pull over to a populated/well lit area.

Sneaky suckers they are. I try to keep a close eye on my speed down there...just 'cause it's a busy place. I've had bikes, rollerbladers, and vehicles whip out in front of me.

I forget, is the limit 25 mph? Are they pacing or using Vascar? If they are using Vascar, they legally have to give you at least 9mph above the limit unless it is a school zone or construction zone. I don't think parks fall under that category for the lesser threshold but I could be wrong.

I don't know what they use there, but at Raystwon, 7 Points in particular, they follow for a distance.  I had a friend get nailed coming up out of 7 Points last year when he had to "get on it" for a short distance in order to keep momentum up for the final climb up and out.  Was he going over the speed limit?  Maybe.  Probably.

My wife gets tired of me saying it, because I do every time we go to 7 Points, whoever designed those roads in and out of there never towed anything in their lives because if they did, they never would have laid out so many sharp two lane curves, so many curves that start just as you start up a steep grade or have interserctions right where you need to keep rolling with a load on the back.
