Tionesta Lake?
Anyone got any tips on fishing Tionesta Lake? I’m headed up to our camp for the long weekend and taking my boat. This will be my first trip on the lake. I’m not looking for any super secrets you can PM me if you prefer. Would like to target bass. Should I launch at the dam or Nebraska Bridge? I’m fishing out of a sixteen foot fiberglass bass boat. Has any spawning activity taken place yet on this lake? Anyone know the water temperature? The weather is suppose to be good this week I hope the water is in good shape.

ive had decent luck in the past using bucktail jigs with a craw in the back of the bays but have only fished the lake a few times. Ive managed to catch more musky while using bass gear up there than bass

If you launch from Nebraska the bridge is closed. Not sure what side you are coming in from.

Just remember it's illegal to "target" spawning bass. Not in season until the 12th I believe.

NO HARVEST - catch and immediate release only The above statement is copied right from the fish commision web site. i don't see any mention of targeting? As long as the fish is immediatly released I don't see the problem? This is brought up all the time on this site?

Also right from the PF&BC website. "NOTE: It is unlawful for an angler to cast repeatedly into a clearly visible bass spawning nest or redd in an effort to catch or take bass."

Doesn't say that you can't fish for and catch bass.

No, it doesn't, and you can fish for (target) bass year round. However there IS this singular ( outside of approved trout waters ) restiction on location, and tactics.

Since this post already went off topic. Can you still walk across and fish from the bridge? Thanks, Rick

I had never fished there prior to this weekend, fished two days and I can say I won't make it a point to go there again. We did alright somewhere around ten smallmouth each day between two of us. The first day caught them on wacky senkos, the second day the wind picked up and we caught them on shaky heads. In my opinion the lake doesn't have a lot of cover or structure. A few pieces of wood here and there, slick sandy banks, and only a few drop offs. Next time I drag the boat to camp I will take it to Kinzua, it’s not that much farther. There just isn't enough of the type of "stuff" that I like to fish. I will be honest I didn't go that far toward the Nebraska Bridge there could be more cover at that end.
