I also agree with Bings it should be C&R only for those without a license. Anyways most of the places I fish don't see very many people in general, had whole lakes to myself a bunch of times

don't you agree with me that cold is the man?

"Sure, we can assiduously three-quarter our wets downstream, mend and wait out each fly swing, over and over again, which to my way of thinking, anyway, relegates the angler to the role, not of nemesis as it should be, but of butler."

If it's free then they should be limited to C&R..

You gotta pay to play.......

I agree. I'm all for getting kids off their arses and involving them in something that doesn't beep, blip, ping, tweet, or TXT. But it's not too much to require that "Fish for Free" be changed to "Fish for Cheap." Make it a $10 permit for those who want to keep what they catch, and $5 for those who want to C&R. Still a deal; you can't take a kid to a 2-hour movie for $10. If you buy a permit, you'll be given a book. If you read a book, you'll know what's expected of you...and if you break the rules and get caught, the PFBC's got your number. Could save someone some hassles...and encourage him to come back and pay full fare next season.

you dudes are facking nuts.

"you gotta pay to play". what the hell is that?  pfbc does a good thing and allows people to fish for free for 2 days out of the year.

I think it is a wonderful way to get new people interested in this wonderful sport and pastime. I try to take a few people every year and introduce them to fishing. I provide lessons on casting various types of tackle and find what is most comfortable for the person and then that is what they use for the day. I always take the new people to a waterway which I know very well and am able to be successful in just about any situation. I have been doing this for many years and have made several great friends and fishing partners from a simple concept of a couple days a year in which the Pa Fish and Boat Commission has set aside to introduce people to the wonderful world of fishing. I think it is really up to all of us to do the very same thing and instead of being so selfish, share what we know and help someone who has an interest but never had the opportunity to really see what it is all about. Most of us were taught as children by either a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, or possibly, if you were so fortunate, by or with a Friend. Not everyone has that chance and may not know where to start. This year why not give it a try, you just might make a new best friend and life long fishing partner.

You could put the money towards fixing boat ramps and dams.

I too think it's great to have free fishing days...With the way the economy has been people losing their jobs and the price of a fishing license not everyone is as blessed as most of us to be able to afford a fishing license.. 40 bucks can buy a months worth of milk or bread for some family's...Think about all the $ you have wrapped up in your gear. I buy a license every year but yet I can't eat fish ,I love to fish tho, I am mostly C&R unless someone ask me for some fish.Im sure there are a lot more people like me out there. They can have my share of fish i pay for but never take....

Fish for free days are fine with me,its a great way to introduce someone new to fishing to the sport. However; Im not buying the poor people gig that 0 or 40 bucks would set a family back!!!You must be kidding!!!!Most poor in this country sit in front of a big screen tv,drive 2 cars, eat better than anyone in the world!! Many go to steeler games, pirates games, and Penguin games, many more go th wheeling island, meadows, rivers casinos, mountaineer. The parking lots are packed every day!!!!!!!
and the finale over 54% of them pay no income tax nada!!!! they must have a few bucks for a lisence.

I agree we are beating a dead horse what are they going to take from the lake or stream in 2 days fishing that is going to hurt your future fishing. most really dont have any idea what they are doing.

If folks are looking for something to complain about. How about having to scan the shelves, and 15-20 variations of Oreos for 10 minutes. Before you can locate a bag of plain ole friggen Oreos? Don't that just yank the hairs on your arse?
