Backcountry trout...

I had a small window for a backcountry trip
8 cliff bars, water bottle, tent, bag, and fishing stuff
Hit the trailhead at a 5:15pm with an easy 5miles uphill
the trail followed the river the entire time which was great motivation
one of those cliché things… the view at every turn was better than the last
it was also a bit tempting to see stoneflies flutter and see splashes

as I was getting close to camp I saw a scamper down the trail and up onto the hill side

get in, make camp, and get out the rod with the last hour of light
right away little guys are smashing up top

up early and fishing some smaller feeders

with my friend in the area, I left my pack up high as I made way for a full day

I pass the opening where I had seen the bear with no sight
Another 100yrd down the trail as I pass a tree… there he is sitting on his****eating
I have a 7’9 2wt in my hand and could have poked him in the eye
Some rocks and a yell had him across the stream before I could pull out the camera
Got the blood pumping

hiked up a bit and had a blast up top

I was beat by the end... probably 30+ fish
surprised i didn't get a brown

In the bag before dark
The next morning was an easy down hill back to the car

on the way to the airport stopped for an amazing pulled pork sammie

As usual - beautiful KJ! Took that new 2 weight out myself this morn. for some natives. Caught a few. I found a new favorite rod! Again - very, very nice pics and story. Thanks for sharin.

    thanks

the bear was kind of slow to lumber off... which i wasn't too happy about
especially (no finding out) the only bear death was in the same area a few years back

cliff bars- yeah i eat them
i don't like to mess with cooking when i backpack
yeah a hot cup of coffee would have been nice... especially after it was down in the 30s at night
    but cliff bars work

for water i just carried one of these

since i left my 2wt reel on the top of my car a few weeks ago
i got to spool that new line that was just sitting on the shelf
Rio trout LT WF... since they don't make the selective trout anymore

    Unbelievable HDR shots

Are you taking bracket photos or re-exposing in RAW and merging??

Again, phenomenal pix dude, and nice fish too...always enjoyable.
