Walleye from Shore?

Anyone know where, if at all, is possible to catch a Walleye from shore around the West side of erie? I unfortunatly do not have a boat so I was looking for a little help to try to catch one from shore. Heard walleyes are good tasting fish and was hoping to try to land one from shore? Any help will be appreciated.

Get a rod that lets you cast about 7 miles and it might work.

Shore fishing for walleyes in Lake Erie is a very low percentage game.  You might get one in the spring casting minnow plugs near creek mouths at night.  Otherwise it is just about hopeless .

    nEwBe,

One of the great things about lake Erie, is that you never know what might take your bait. Yes, you can catch Walleye from shore, but the best likelyhood occurs in the spring months. Fish the shore line at the mouths of the streams at night, using floating/shallow diving, minnow imitations such as a #18 Rapala. I suppose it is "possible" at any time, but catches are rather common during the spring.

I know that they do get some 'eyes from the breakwalls in Ohio at night.  Cast BIG, BIG, BIG plugs and twitch them back VERY slowly.  The further west you go the better.

I always wondered about that.We get tons from now till Jan.(or ice up)Why couldnt you get them PA. 15 miles from where I am at in Ohio.Maybe its just no one has tried! And just like the spring everyone wants to cast the biggest minnow plug they can find.I get my limit every night in the spring and almost everytime I go in the fall And never fish over a 5" lure. And slow pishaw, slow in March (sorry guys that its a closed season in PA.)All other times I use a fast retrieve with jerks not twitches thrown in.Also 1/4 oz. shad raps and rattle traps work very well in the fall.I might have to come over and try myself.

Go for it TreeFrog!  Let me know your results.  I would imagine the breakwalls at Conneaut or 'Bula would definitely hold some fish.
