new reel
I need help choosing which reel to get. I have a pretty long list to choose from: Shimano sonora sedona spirex syncopate Mitchell 300 xe Avocet II Pfleuger president trion gx7 Quantum escalade Okuma stratus stx Daiwa Takara Feel free to add to my list. I'm not entirely sure which one to get. I've heard great things about pfleugers. Alot of people like shimanos. The escalade, stratus stx, and takara are made specially for****s. It's hard to fisnd anything about them. What reel do you guy's reccomend ? thanks, Scott

What type of fish are you planning to use it for? If just a general spinning reel I'd go with the Pfleuger President...

I'll be targeting mostly trout and bass, with the occasional carp.

Then I'd get the medium sized Pfleuger President...

President all the way.... That thing has good guts (lots of metal) it's smooth, and it can handle fish. I use the small one for bass, walleye and steel head, I was thinking about the medium sized one but really love this one I paired it with a 6' ul uglystick lite and it's great. I swap it over to the noodle when I go after steelhead. I have caught an 32" musky on it (accidentally) and it handled it just fine. I put some 6 lb(20lb) braid on it of your choice and your set for it all!

I have 2 Saharas, 1 of the older design and 1 of the newer and have been 100% pleased with both. Go Shimano.

my last 3 spinning reels were pfleuger president's. very pleased with them, purchased the smallest model i could find for bass, carp, trout and even caught quite a few steel on it when i first started steelhead fishing. reasonably priced also.
If the world needed and enema, they'd put the tube in Philadelphia. Go Pens! Evgeni Malkin: I'M SCORE S.D.S.G.F.C.

My vote goes to the president also. I have had one for about 4 years and love it, first non-shimano spinning reel I purchased. I have not bought another spinning reel since. Shimano's are good too....whichever you like.
I snag steelhead on the reg.

The president. For the price its awesome. Dont buy any reel that is made specially for d1ck's, in my experience they are all crap, and its hard to get parts for them.

A Shimano Sahara, Daiwa Exceler, or Abu Garcia Cardinal 500 series are all quality reels in that price range.
