Local Kayak drift fishing

Anyone drift Neshannock, Slippery Rock creeks or Shenango, Mahoning, Beaver Rivers? Lookin to get off the lakes and into some moving waters. Just not sure where the best spots are to start in regards to problems on the waters (small falls, long shallows, etc.) Also if anyone wouldnt mind a tag along if you already head out in a canoe or kayak on these waters let me know.

    Hey RR,

I'm far south of those waters but if you want to do some drift fishing down the Yough River I'll hook you up. I have a dozen sit-on-top kayaks and the pontoon kayaks are great to float fish from.

Depending on how long you want to be on the river depends on how far up river I put you in, then you float fish your way back to my place. I've floated 80+ year olds down the Yough and never lost one yet.

Im good on the kayaks. Own a couple of em. Just not sure of the best start to finish spots on the waters around my parts. I would like to make it down to the Yough though. Problem is i work turns and most of the time my days off are in the middle of the week. Not sure if that would be a problem. Is this a business you run down there ?

    RR,

I have floated the Shenango from Kidds Mill to the lake many times in a kayak.  There are many places to fish and good scenery along the way.  There are a couple of hairy areas depending on the time of year and water levels.  At one point the river splits (near hamburg I think) and you'll want to stay right, at least last year you did!  The biggest obstacle was downed trees, which can limit where you will be able go.  All in all a good float.

If you decide to go locally (sharon, mercer area) let me know via pm and I will tag along or at least point you in the right direction

i have floated the rock once and it has some tricky spots.  depending on what section you float there are several dams you have to portage and several shelf type falls of a few feet but very doable in normal flow, as long as you pay attention and take them head on.  the float i did was from heinze camp to the fish commision property.  also the connie is very floatable from just about any where.
