Yes,I fished there many nights and days in the past and for the most part,I'd say the fish are released,Matt knows who snags and keeps and who runs there 1st limit home,I've seen him stand there for hours, till he gets his man.The thing I don't like is THE GREY AREA,one warden tells me if the lures on the cheek it's good, another mouth only.If the lures not IN THE MOUTH,I take no chance on a fine, any fish is not worth the 150.00 fine.

well where to begin i fish the spill often as i can snagged one last week as a matter of fact sent him packing with a frown . i was not ripping my sonor as hard as i could and did not have any intention of snagging a fish , sometimes there are so many fish that you just cant avoid snagging one or two . the ao's you guys refer to are locals and you just have to get up earlier and get there earlier than they do , if you can't make that kind of commitment to fishing once in a while you should put up your rods and go home . most of the locals think of nonresidents as interlopers and treat them with disdain so don't be an ao yourself and maybe try to get to know some of them and then when their not look'n you slide in between a couple of your new buddies with that said the crappie are hitt'n all over in the bays on the north end , and lastly the icelady is right the crickticketers don't always wear their uniforms when suspected wrongdoing is happening , and i wouldn't be suprised to see one surface in scuba gear in the spillway . more to come from an unhappy local

In my 45 + years of fishing I never owned a Sonar lure and will never own one! I have seen them in use many a day through out my lifetime in different types of fishing and they are by far the No. 1 Snagging Lure ever invented!

IMO depends on the water. I use sonars almost exclusively in the winter for eyes in the river and have not snagged more than a couple, if not only one that I rememberand and that was a while back. But at the spillway...... outlaw 'em.

many locals and business owners will disagree with you. how many thousands of "tourons" visit the parks, tourist attractions, restaurants, stores, etc... in the area? what business/s, tourist attraction/s, restaurant/s, store/s, etc... do you own in the area? how many millions less fish would that lake see stocked if it werent for the thousands of "tourons" and anglers who stay in the parks, hotels, campgrounds, etc...? you may not need the "tourons" but many others do.

Last time I checked it was a STATE PARK not a Crawford Co. Park. Maybe the State used eminent domian to take the land for the park from Bluntman's ancestors and he's ticked off. Last time I checked Linesville School District doesn't mind me paying my school taxes on my cabin.

dont think most of the linesville population of less than 2000 has a problem with it either.

Take a simple look at Conneaut and the Ghost town that area has become since they slowly started closing the park years ago. When I was a kid there were small businesses all over the place up there, now look around......if you can manage to find a business owner ask them if they like Tourons or not............

We'll I'm certain the same observations can be made now as then. Same as it ever was. Jus Say'IN.
Give a week or two, guys will be lined up on the cement. Guys will be waiting in line to get in. And the most certainty is some fish will be snagged and roped. Again Jus Say'IN...

Pymy Spillway talk.... I can think of so many other way to enjoy fishing other than lifting and raking schools of fish stacked in tight spots for spawning. I even understand novices or young fishermen being enticed to easy catching but come on....really ? Is that the best some good fishermen can do to produce fish catches ?

I can say I've never fished the spillway madness, but as far as the blade baits go they do actually catch and not snag fish sometimes. Finally put some effort into using them through the ice this year on a few different lakes. Them eyes will definitly smack them on the drop, as well as other species. I'm sold.

That's a nice big rake ...lol I have a good friend who uses the smaller blade baits for Perch and Crappie does good too. He jigs in 20 ft. of water in a boat, not ripping up and down in 4 ft. of water with a 1/2oz Sonar.....big difference.

Never fished the spillway in the spring for walleye. Dead mid summer when it's the hottest I will hang out there for some huge catfish about 100 yards off shore in the channel. As far as sonars, they, like june bug spinners, rooster tails, cpswings, worm harnesses, have had their day in the sun too at Pymatuning. Probably a five year stretch in the eighties it was the go to lure and EVERY bait shop on the lake had 100s in stock! I used the heck out them on the north end with some success and an occasional snagged fish. The best however was a late summer day on the north end and we were just dropping them in a slow flutter and reeling up really slow. We must have caught fifty big white bass within an hour. What a circus.
